I get it at least twice a round if not more, does anyone else get it as frequently as this?

every 45mins for me. Hard to say what it is exactly. Though I would venture a guess to packet loss, or overflow.

The only times I've disconnected are when the server itself crashes.

Sorry to say, but I think that your Australian internet infrastructure is pretty poor, I see people disconnecting nearly every few min's. I've never been disconnected from the BigD servers and I play from Korea.

Dont be sorry, its a well known issue that Australian internet structure is crap compared to other 1st world countries. Thats why its a such a big deal at our next election, trying to buy the common mans vote with "new and improved internet". Read the background info and its a step back if anything in the way they want to do certain things

Edit: Used to be with internode and didnt have a bad thing to say about them. Flatmate changed providers to Comcen havent a nice thing to say about them.

I hate my isp with the PR servers. I get pings of like 25-30 some days!

Bring back the bigdy server and a 10ms ping due to it being literally down the road

I've only had one occassion where it dropped out and it was not a server crash (I was going bloody well too - was annoying).

 

I'm with Optus, and even though they're not the cheapest, I've had actually very little to complain about with them.

Same here robbie with optus, though I never get connection issues.

Low ping sucks need that 90-110 mark, or a constant ping of 99-100 like AMRIL :evil:

 

I play with 15-20 and I sometimes think it doesnt do me any favours *if I had a hack it would cause I could start firing before the get around the wall*

I'm with TPG, initially I was dcing pretty much every half hour, but then I found out it was my network configuration. I then changed my aging ADSL2+ modem into 'bridge' config, and using my wireless router as the.. whatever it does.. and now I never get automatically dced, unless something occurs TPG-wide (which seldom does)

I pretty much dc more than half the time when I click on 'Join Now' (when it gets to the actual gamemap) right after the all the stuff has been loaded and verified. I then have to rejoin and wait another few minutes but it always works the second time, probably because the map has been cached or something similar. This has been occuring on my computer forever...

As I've mentioned before I'm on wireless, and I get pings of 100 (good nights) to 200 (most nights), and often find myself being kicked from a server for high ping.

 

That said I don't usually notice any effects that seriously detract from my gameplay. If I'm careful doing things it doesn't make too much of a difference. What does annoy me is frequent lag spikes.

 

What I noticed the other night though, is that this doesn't occur when I play vBF:2. I tried a variety of servers on both PR and vBF:2, and noticed that the connection problems were happening much more often with PR than BF:2... Which leads me to believe that at least part of the problem is in the code of PR. Does anyone know more about this?

I had no problems with PR until the recent update to .6 I seem to get lag spikes and have gone to tweeking my pc to try and fix the problem with no luck is there any known issues with .6 causing the lag problem everyone is mentioning I keep hearing it is your ISP. I haven't changed ISP the only change has been the new version of PR.

I really don't think it is the IP I am starting to thing that PR 6 is a memory hog everytime I quit my machine is sluggish. 2 gig of Ram should be plenty!!!

If you have a dual core, AMD, processor such as a Athlon X2 4200+ then a quick fix to reduce your connection problems is this. Once you have loaded BF2, alt tab, ctrl alt del, select in processes the BF2 task, right click, click on "Set affinity" and de-select one of the cores. Tonight I got D/C'ed like 5 times in a row only a few minutes after joining and by doing this, the D/C's have gone away totally.

 

It also seems that BF2 loads maps, while alt tabbed, when you do this.

I got dual. The AMD drivers actually fixed it, so you don't, well shouldn't need to do that anymore.

Yeh just get the AMD drivers and you'll be sweet.

post a link for those drivers please as I think that is the problem I have done alt Tab thing and it worked
