im not too sure matey, sad times.

Pull the plug, keep the Steam group. If and when Squad comes out relaunch BigD. No point continuing to pay for all this since we don't know when squad is coming. The two BigD GAU server should stay up and TS?

 

Call it quits for now, reassess when Squad comes.

Dunno about you guys, but i still play PR every day. Shame you lot have stopped (add me on steam if you wanna have a few games)

 

But yeah, there's no server to support the community. Seems like everyone has gotten too old and have too many responsibilities. Not like it's easy to attract new community members, especially with things like having an approval system for the TS which doesn't allow new people to talk (ridiculous).

 

I don't think you should call the quits, maybe there is a chance of a second wind when squad is released, but that's pretty far away.

We're just in a lull period and that's it.

It may seem a while away but (most likely, dear god I hope) there will be a flood of new players once a public released build of squad comes out.

We just need to wait and when that time comes we need to be as public as possible so people know that there is an Australian community for PR/Squad.

Because if you ask me that's the biggest problem with BigD it's just that people don't really know about its existence, more people are leaving than are joining.

There's no point in ditching the website because if you ask me that means ditching BigD entirely, and the steam group is no substitute to the website, and has barely had any activity since its inception.

The removal of approval for TS is a step in the right direction (a bit too late if you ask me though) we need to focus on making BigD as public and accessible as possible.

There's my two cents. We just need to wait and then strike when the moment is right.

I am merely stating the fact that running the website costs money, and I believe our license for Xenforo expires or something this month? Anyhow, our teamspeak and gaming servers are mostly free and won't go away, but I am not sure on the specifics with the website.

 

And seeing as the main website isn't getting used, I suggested we pull the plug for financial reasons, and start it up when we have a Squad server or the community gets moving again.

Hmmm, don't want to lose everyone, but as said "takes money to run a website." TBH I played PR a ton until I got a new joystick (which wasn't super compatible with bf2/pr). That kind of removed some incentive of PR, then things started getting quieter and life busier. Long time ago I stopped playing and just visited the site regularly (daily) watching Random and looking for any new posts/questions.

 

Has anyone proposed starting a subreddit? Not sure whether reddit costs $$ but if its free like i'm assuming you might be able to hang out the lull there until squad picks up. then reestablish Big D 2.0

My account is too new/inactive for me to create one. I look at reddit often but im not logged in usually. Its not a bad idea though.

That's actually not that bad of an idea having it on reddit because it is free.

And I think I would be able to create it, while it is a shame having to leave our own website it's not that bad of an idea.

This Website will not be disappearing any time soon. No need to create a reddit page right now as that would just fracture the activity even more.

 

What I'm after is when Squad is in beta, there is sufficient support to fund a game server. The cost of the website can be born by myself for 12 months while we focus on funding a game server that is stable and has the right guts to run Squad.

I'd be against making a subreddit, just keep the website. reddit is defs free (i mod /r/leagueoflegends) and would know a lot about how to set one up, but i dont think it's the right path. Glad to hear the website is here to stay.

i havent been playing of late too tired or busy .price of getting old i suppose. more grand kids on the way. by the end of april there will be 8 , seven girls and only one boy.

i will keep coming back to the forum to see whats new,till next time or in game
