We are looking at ways to bring back the Community of BigD that it once had during the Project Reality's golden days. Space Engineers is a Sand box game which involves engineering, construction and the maintenance of space works. In it, a player can build space ships and space stations of varied size, and use them for both civil and military use, for either asteroid mining or combat. It is an early access game provided through Steam and through the Games website. You have the option of playing in 'Survival' or 'Creative' Mode which is pretty straight forward. Survival you will create the items you require with a timer and Creative allows you to instantly make creations without fears of running out of Oxygen or Materials. The game also features a Steam Workshop where there is a number of Ships you can instantly place into your Creative game mode.

 

 

I am hoping that there are enough people in the BigD Community to warrant setting this up on one of our servers. The video below showcases what sort of a ship is possible to be built from scratch.

 

This looks like a game that would be good for regular events.

Yeah I think space battles would be pretty sweet on a regular basis in Creative mode. Allow people to make a certain size ship and just have a free for all.

that sounds great, is there alot you can do in this game, building and such?

You can mine through huge asteroids and turn it into a base with either just basic hand drills or you can make as complex a mining ship as you like. Welding blocks and weapons onto your ship with a blow torch or make a welding ship to do multiple blocks at a time. Make a simple space station or a space station with multiple corridors, hangars and an assembly room to turn all of your mined minerals into materials you use to make your ships. You can make it easier with things like a conveyor system to hook all of your assembly objects and ejectors on your ship to quickly and easily dump off materials from asteroid mining. Hell you can even make a giant grinding pit and grind away ships that you take over in battle for its materials.
