Breaking point is an evolution of the DayZ mod for ArmA 3, it has all the regular DayZ trimmings (Zombies, loot, food, drink, vehicles, a ton of weapons, etc) with a much bigger emphasis on PvP combat and faction warfare. Also there are local Australian servers up.

 

A decent number of members from the community have been getting into it recently and it would be great to see more jump in. We have a couple of TS channels set up for it too.

Just Started Last Night, Must Say I'm impressed With How Smooth It Runs, Seen A Couple Of Gun Men Out There But Have Avoided For Now =P

Finally downloaded it after it failed on a 2Gb file 3 times.

had a quick run around and so far so good. Definitely need to meet up with other players

The faction system and the fact that it being ArmA 3 which runs 100% smoother than ArmA 2/DayZ were really big draw cards for me personally too. Not to mention the other features like grouping and persistent user placed weapon/ammo caches. Glad to see some interest was generated by my post.

 

Yeah the updater is a bit hit and miss sometimes. One thing I will mention is an option on the updater called "delta patching" Make sure this is on when downloading updates via HTTP. This will mean the difference between 1-2Gb and 10-20 Mb.

 

We normally play on AU37 which is a first person only (Hardcore) server. The other server AU18 usually has a higher population but people can use 3rd person which can lead to people spotting you over/through/around walls, etc. Though you can switch your character back and forth between any server so long as they are running the same map, which 18 and 37 are.

 

Lastly we mostly play as Rangers, Nomads, Survivalists (The good guys). That said don't let that affect your choice, The more the merrier whether they are allies or enemies. And you can swap between classes on each new life without loosing your overall class progression.

Make sure in the updater all the sections "Breaking point", "Updater", and "ArmA 3" are green and it says "All Updated". Then go to the server list in the launcher click AU37 and click connect. This should open ArmA 3 and dump you right in the lobby of the server you connected to. If your BP is broken in some way you should get into the lobby but you'll be kicked when you try to join the game with some sort of file mismatch error usually. If ArmA is not starting that's usually a problem with the base game more than any mod you are running AFAIK.

 

Assuming you have done all that. I guess the usual computer troubleshooting applies, turn PC off then on again, abuse PC, hit PC, Bargain with god so your PC will work again, etc...

Thanks ^ was a bit of both, had to reinstall Arma3 ( yay for unlimited interntez... was 10 gig worth..)- something was screwed up, I can play Arma3 fine and now Breaking Point, the updater and Arma3 are all green in the updater .

Took several goes to get things updated as I had to use a different server to download the BP updates...was an error\invalid file in the updates I did last night.. had another 16 files to update today but its all good now..

Im having an issue where no download choices are actually there.

 

It loads up the HTTP page but nothing is actually there.

takes some time for the info to display, or you might of just picked a bad time when the servers where down because of an update

Well I played for a while...just wandering around collecting tag along Walkers.. had 7 at one stage and couldn't get a weapon so thought I would go for a swim in the Ocean... that had them F**ked.., they just stood in the water waving their arms around and groaning .

Swam ashore further along and continued wandering around.

What Bahlye fails to mention is when he linked up with us and I was trying to teach him some of the games systems and while trying to heal me he accidentally shot me in the nuts at point blank range with an M4 and killed me!

Oh I forgot to let you know at the time B, but killing an allied player will give you a big stack of negative points -1000 for killing a level 1 nomad like I was playing last night. Dropping into negative points will make you a "traitor". This changes your skin (you'll have no hat and your clothes will be all bloody and dirty) and ANYONE will be able to kill you on sight for a nice point bonus. So I'd advise you to lay low for a bit until you get back into the positive and regain your "honour". As a survivalist this is not too hard as they gain a significant amount of points just for staying alive over time.

 

Just FYI it's something like -1000, -2000, -3000 for killing a level 1, 2, 3 ally respectively. So you are kind of lucky you only killed me and not Rooter who is a lvl 3 ranger lol. Also you can check your current points for each class from the bar chart tab on the launcher.

I've had every moron with a gun attempt to take my rifle from me.

I mean hell first encounter I had with someone was him screaming friendly to rthen try and shoot me when I was closer.

I keep finding guns, but never have the right bloody ammo...then the Walkers catch up with me and I either die or have to run away again lol

Here is a video posted by a guy in a bandit squad that was engaging us over the weekend. Very interesting seeing it from the other side of the crosshairs.

 

Starring Wolf as "that noob who kept getting shot", EvilRooter as "Operation distraction" the Hunter driver and PurpleMonkey as "That guy who was always right next to wolf but managed to never engage and somehow survived like some kind of forest ninja" (Seriously he was within 100meters of me but somehow never fired at the enemy or got fired on by them and hence doesn't technically appear for the whole vid even though he was there).

 

Also guest starring Deggy as "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" Also driving our hunter later on in the clip. And a special guest appearance by Noddy right at the end in a fuel station ambush.

 

Might as well be the BigD community frag reel except for those couple of hunters they kill in the middle of the clip. Enjoy.

According to the roadmap they are going to add more zombie types that will be a much greater threat.
