So this freaking thing has driven me to the point of wanting to wipe my drive and just reset everything.

 

About 2 weeks ago, I updated uTorrent, and while updating there was a screen to install an add-on to chrome called "snapdo", basically a new bad search engine like bing ect.. anyways, this screen to add it on was NOT A TRADITIONAL one, instead of a screen where you check a box saying yes I want this or no I don't want this and then continue (which I would have noticed), the installer screen for this garbage was just plain text and a "agree" "disagree" making it look like a license agreement (sneaky ****ers), so naturally I pressed agree, and BAM!, I have an irremovable annoying as **** add-on to my chrome.

 

I have deleted it from the extensions, I have reset my chrome settings to use google search and default to the new tabs page, which lasted about 2 hours before it somehow changed them back, I have re-installed chrome, that didn't work, I have looked online to no avail, it's like a freaking virus.

 

Have any of you had a similar issue? because this is seriously driving me insane as small as it is.

Try running an anti-malware or adware program; if that fails maybe try C-cleaner to remove any cache or extension files while uninstalling chrome, etc.

check startup programs, and see if anything fishy is starting up and changing your settings.

Ok, so after some more searching, I found that it was installed in my Appdata as a folder called "Smartbar", I tried deleting it and of course it wouldn't let me, so I used Unlocker to try and delete it and THAT didn't work the first time, I had to set it to delete on reeboot.

I know its late, but in the patch line on the .exe for firefox, they added a line to make it defualt.
