Hey guys, i'm just having some issue with PR where my game frequently crashes, about once and hour or so. I'm running PR 1.0.36.0 and my computer runs 64 bit Windows 7, has an intel i5 2.67Ghz dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 2GB integrated video card.

I also get the problem where mumble disconnects in-game and prevents me from sending or receiving squad talk.

Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this or a solution as it is currently very frustrating while playing.

This solution might only be for 32bit systems, but have a go turning your settings (textures) to medium. I seem to recall something about 4GB of RAM and crashing.

Do You Have PR Launch Files Set To Run as Administrator ("Drive\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe") ? Right Click - Properties - Compatibility Tab - Tick 'Run As Administrator' - Apply Then Ok, See If That Helps.

 

Also Try Doing The Same ^ To PRMumble.exe (Drive\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\bin\PRMumble)

unfortunately, neither of those helped. Any other suggestions?

You don't have a Belkin Router do you ?.

I'd recommend running things on medium or low for a night or two and see if it runs longer and better.

im having the same problem,game crash to desktop and shuting down.

running xp service pack 3. no mumble problems.2 gig ram. i run the game in low resolution

Are you connecting via Wireless or Ethernet/USb ?

 

Also can you post the system information from PRLauncher/Support/support info ?

when you say your game crashes, crashes to desktop? or boots you out of the server?

 

the mumble issue sounds like a firewall one. have you checked to see if anything is blocking it? what anti virus do you have installed? some can be really obtrusive..

The game crashes to desktop. It comes up with the unloading resources message that you get when closing PR normally.

I use zone alarm firewall and avast antivirus.

My friend had this issue, he solved it by doing something to the files, I cant remember for the life of me what it was, and he isn't on skype atm, but I believe it was something like this, he made the files non re-writable or SOMETHING like that, I will ask him when he is online.

i can't seem to fix the issue, i've tried LAN cables, resetting my router, updating stuff, turning down graphics, checking my firewall, everything... anyone got any clue as how to fix this???

Have You Tried A Complete Reinstall Of PR - BF2 ? Use The 1.0 Full Files Not The Update version of 1.0 ?

 

I Suggesting Uninstalling Everything Running A Program Like CCleaner, To Clean up Files And Then Run Their Registry Cleaner. Reinstalling From Scratch. That Should Eliminate Your game Files And If Lag Continues You Can Maybe look At More Network Troubleshooting. When Installing remember To Run As Admin For Everything !

Do you recommend reinstalling battlefield 2 as well or just project reality?

Are you sure your router is not overheating?

 

My old one used to be fine until it got too warm during summer - that was a wireless one as well. You also have to accept the fact that wireless will always be dodgy for gaming.

yeah, i turned it off and left it for about 2 hours, it's positioned in the shade to keep any sunlight of it. It still had the issue afterwards.

So even after the 2hrs it still didn't work properly?

No, it didn't work properly. The issue only seems to be with PR, not anything else.

Does anyone know how to do a tracert to the PR servers? I'm not sure how it's done, but it might be helpful to some?

So launch PR/play/options/game switch to the other connection type/test.
