Just started downloading the 1.0 pre-load pack in anticipation of a long awaited (by me, anyway) return to a bit of PR this weekend.

 

I've long since removed BF2 and all it's various patches etc so need to start again with a clean install. My original BF2 discs are ...*somewhere* in the shed but as it is raining I can't be bothered searching!

 

So, for a basic PR only install, what exactly do I need to install first and can I simply download a BF2 .ISO or do I need to go dig out my old discs?

Doesn't 1.0 have mumble in game already?

Mount the ISO to daemon tools for install then delete ISO after install.

 

Everything is included in the installer, uninstall everything you have before you install v1.0 too:

 

Anders SM, mumble, 0.9, 1.0 beta etc.

Can I install BF2 from a mounted (downloaded) .iso or do I need to install from my original CD and userkey?

If you can find your disk, or CD key. Talk to origin support and they will give you a digital download with patch 1.5 and everything.

 

If you can't find your disk, but you know your CD key and don't want to deal with Origin, you can also pirate the ISO and change the registry to put in a legit CD key.

 

 

All you need is PR 1.0, it comes with mumble included.

 

To install PR 1.0, you need a copy of BF2 (don't need the expansions) with patch 1.5 installed - Along with a legit CD-KEY.

Yes, you can use a downloaded .iso, just remember to run the 1.41 and 1.5 patches as administrator, and in Windows XP compatibility mode.

As stated if you do use your disc and and it' s old you may need patch 1.41 before 1.5.

I got launch error said Could not find launcher path at E:\steam\.......\pr\bin\PRLauncher.exe

After i delete everything relate to PR, I still got the same msg.

I downloaded a BF2 DVD ISO and it works fine with a legit key. After that, install the 1.5 patch then you're good to go.

 

Anyone know if the GamingAU servers already have the server files so we're ready to jump in as soon as release?

gonna ninja this thread, Having trouble installing bf2 on my desktop, running into an error installing special forces ( or just 1.41 if i skip SF ) I keep getting patching failed, anyone got a solution?

So you are not able to install 1.41 on vanilla bf2?

no, nor install special forces.

Hrmmm. What error message is it giving?

"Patching failed" that's it, just reinstalled for the 3rd time, and giving it another go, lot of it coming up in google, not many fixes.

Some people say they can get it to install in safemode?

Do you have Origins?

 

You could get a digital copy off them that will have all the updates, you just need to prove you have a CD copy.

Yeah when I get angry enough and snap the discs that will be the go to move me thinks, not that I want another reason to have to use that terrible program..

Fixed, renamed objects_client ( the file the patcher seemed to be getting stuck on ) 1.41 installed perfectly fine after that, then 1.5 did its thing and made a new version of the file updated, all seems to be good now. Thanks for the help

no good for me...says stuck on older version and won't update to the newer one... error 59 or something

Are you using an incremental patch?
