I am a new playing in this area, I've been a player and admin in Europe for years taking part in a few PRT's and organized quite a lot of events.

 

I am of course saddened with the non population of BIG D all the more since I've played a bit with you guys, generally you seem like nice guys and mature patient (more than me) players.

 

Since two weeks I've changed my ISP which has enabled me to play properly as before my ping would bounce around up to 600 whereas it is now stable at 41 to Big D.

 

What I have noticed is the game play and player base is generally awful at the times we play in our evening, I can't count how many times I meet mutes, lone wolves and idiots doing all kinds of useless stuff.

 

I understand better why so often I see AUX or Anzacs locked into squads which is something I never used to do in Europe as I'm well known there and am generally pleased to help out with new or less experienced players. However I have no interest in having a squad of mutes or guys that don't understand enough English to say enemies west or whatever which is vital in PR.

 

Just a few nights ago I formed a squad on Yamalia and lo and behold three mutes joined me of which two were in mumble and guess what it took five minutes of dicking around to even sort out a medic kit, but after 10 minutes of talking to myself I stopped playing and read a book. nI can understand the guys who have stopped PR as its so much less pleasant then in Europe where everyone at least communicates (on PRTA mutes would be removed for players that communicate even if they were on mumble).

 

Verdict - I really pray we're talking weeks not months for PR 1.0 that will hopefully mean Big D will become populated as I'm not sure I' ll stick with PR if it's always like this down here....

I think with the decline in player numbers there has also been a steady decline in teamwork and communications. This is most likely due to the loss of many of the key leaders and long term members that used to populate the servers on an almost nightly basis ensuring a strong basis of teamwork, maturity and knowledge in just about every squad.

 

Alas, it seems the golden days of PR are in the past. I too am hoping for the miracle of 1.0 revitalising the playerbase and bringing back many of the BigD veterans.

 

Time will tell I guess.

I also find that I have much less time to play - with the whole only certain hours playing thing.

 

In the time that I do get to play, I'd rather play a round or two with my mates/clan members. The only way this will improve is more regulars in general, as well as incorporating randoms into squads of people that know each other.

I get a far worse view here then I did in Europe in January, I was an senior admin on PRTA since it began - when the server was full people without mumble or non communicating would be removed.

 

I do notice that CIA and HOG are very relaxed where the Euro servers are much more strict, I guess that's because we are in a low player volume time zone with a few non English speaking countries.

I noticed the Japanese NAVY clan playing for example and I had a Japanese guy in my squad who's engrish was fine but he didn't want to talk - maybe parents or flat mate issues.

We've never "removed" anyone for not simply not talking. Nor should we IMHO.

 

The community is usually quite strict on squads or players that were not contributing to the team or not playing in the spirit of the game though. I know in my time as an admin I kicked as many people for non contribution or poor conduct as I did for team killing or cheating.

 

There is a huge difference between not talking and not contributing. Just because they are not talking on mic doesn't mean they aren't doing their best to help the squad/team. People break their mics or don't want to wake the baby/wife. You can't blame them for that.

I feel your pain ploddit. It's part of the reason i've stopped playing on CIA so much.

 

Before i used to hop on almost every night. The gameplay is just garbage. The admins are useless (not as bad as HOG though), and no one seems to care.

 

It's more than likely because at that hour you get so many people from different servers, waiting for theirs to be populated. People have the mentality, oh it's just CIA who cares.

 

Aus guys pretty much always squad up with aus guys, because why not? 95% of the time they're better players, who actually listen and work together, rather than run off doing stupid ****.

 

From my experience even just having 1 guy in your squad that you can rely on, is a great help in both gameplay and enjoyment.

I said non communicating not not talking, my super squad didn't even answer to texts not even via commo rose nothing zip zero.

I've had guys in my squad that text only it's not ideal but 100 times better than nothing.

 

I was helping a guy learn mortars last night on the blackwater server and was shocked to see a 180 ping, whereas I am 230 to CIA.

I feel like it was the other way round. I think a lot of people left as a result of the lack of teamwork that was happening. I don't know why it only seemed to happen to our sever though, while the rest of the world continues to play PR in all its glory.

I don't see the point in having a go at our player base when its only ever max 20 people. The problem is population not communication. When we had full servers every night people did get kicked for being **** but its a moot or should i say mute point now

 

bf3 sunk this ship and even when everyone realised bf3 was doo doo there was no Pr community to come back to so people went to different games.

Saying that last night all the Pacific players were on the team that got owned big-time last night - must be our 200+ pings....

Darksea, there was a time about 18 months ago when Big D was full. Often.

 

Maybe those of us who care about tactics and strategy should work a bit harder to make sure we can get into the same squads more often. Maybe get on T/S first to discuss which server, etc?

 

I always look for Aussie players.

 

By establishing a good working squad (it only takes a couple of people), you soon attract other players who want to team up and cooperate - then you influence the round. Then others want to follow the example. But it takes an interested squad leader who is prepared to kick the kn0bs out and push the comms in spite of people being mute. (Some mutes actually try hard to cooperate.)

Hello, installed PR again, haven't really played since the heady times when BigD had 2 servers humming with players. I guess US servers are the best option now for ANZACs ?

Yeah, people try and play on PRTA, it's got the lowest ping. I always get sub 200 which is playable. Look out for people making AUS squads
