Just watched the new Kathryn Bigelow film "Zero Dark Thirty" about the hunt and killing of Osama Bin Laden.

 

First 2 hours was very much like a movie length episode of Homeland - some great actors and interesting background. Nice if you like convoluted plots and politics. Last 30 minutes was the DEVGRU raid on the compound and followed almost to the letter the book "No Easy Day".

 

Long film but well worth it.

 

Also watched Lincoln the other night - also a long film and another with a strong political element to it. If Daniel Day Lewis doesn't win an Academy Award for that movie there is no justice in this world! Highly recommended if you like your films cerebral...

Cheers Bammo, had no idea that Zero Dark Thirty was such a long film, really enjoyed Homeland (well first season anyway). I'll give it a watch when it gets over here.

 

Not sure if I'd be into the Lincoln one...

Hatifum is worth a watch. It is the original that Homeland is based on but much darker. It is in Hebrew but if you look hard enough, you can find copies with English subtitles.

Is that the one that SBS has been advertising recently?

Should be on their website, so I'll have a looksie. Was meaning to watch that also.
