Posted January 5, 201312 yr Ok so this goes to anyone that has a Uplay account which is anyone that owns an ubisoft game basically. Just now I have received an email from ubisoft containing the information that my email and password have been changed. This is not possible, as no malware is at all present on my computer and nothing else has been compromised. Nor have I loaded an ubisoft game in months or even typed in that information on my computer for well over a year. So I went to consult their forum and found an 18 page thread with a large number of people with the same issue. Message source from the email sent to me: Fri, 4 Jan 2013 22:39:07 -0800 MIME-Version: 1.0 From: AccountSupport@ubi.com To: uplay51103904@playbay.su, "myemail"@hotmail.com Date: 5 Jan 2013 06:39:07 +0000 Im gonna go out on a limb and say their servers were most probably comprimised from what I have seen this @playbay.su has been related to most of these accounts being stolen. In that article listed above aswell there was word that other accounts were being taken at the same time, presumably things with the same email & password combination, even though I use different passwords for everything I guess its time to changed the 400 million accounts I have to have to play any game to be safe. Just another step in the high profile Internet hackings regarding gaming as of late that started with the whole PSN debacle last year. I hope these company's will realise if they are going force us to use these dodgy DRM measure and such that they have to protect them, if not make them fking optional. Now I must figure out how to get my uplay account back and my control. I heard mutterings that linking it via facebook would make it secure, but that; s something I won't do. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/Rommel93/avsnsigs/ah1_2avatar1.jpg
January 5, 201312 yr Heard about this a few days ago, seems to be pretty serious as it's affected quite a number of people. Thankfully I only have a single game on the system so it's not a big problem for me, I'll just play other, less DRM laden games until this debacle gets resolved. Time to rise to the occasion
January 5, 201312 yr Yeah same thing happened to me on 19th december, still haven't got a reasonable response from ubisoft help, pretty ticked off tbh (I hadn't played any of their games for months, but still).
January 5, 201312 yr Author Yeah I got a reply faster than I expected, but it seems they are trying to blame the end user with the questions they were asking, I don't know if they are following standard procedure, but they clearly haven't realised that this is happening on a scale to large for what it should be, its not someone taking a couple of accounts, its someone taking thousands. Its effing pathetic really, I ain't buying anymore ubisoft games that's for sure. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/Rommel93/avsnsigs/ah1_2avatar1.jpg
