Mumble Etiquette?

Can I suggest that we put some Etiquette in around the use of mumble now that we are encouraging people to use it - with the aim of continuing to do so.

I don't think we need anything too rulesy... but things like silence with 1 minute on the timer would only be a good thing?

Or am I just a hater ? :p

I remember one of the reasons some of the regs didn't want to use mumble was because of the banter that happens after each map.

To be honest I really enjoy being able to talk to the opposing team after match, even if it's only for a minute or so.

If people are being annoying and carrying on after each map then someone will probably tell them to shut it, but it's like that with every other form of voice chat anyway.

But yeah I think once the map has loaded in and it's time to squad up I think it would be better if only SL's talk.

For those who dont like the e-peening between matches, suggest you set-up and use mumble mute keys, works a treat and saves your ears from bleeding.

No, they're saying that when the countdown timer reaches 1min everyone should shut up for a bit so that SL's can give their squad the lowdown. This means joining a squad and talking in Mumble squad chat, not the local chat (as everyone can hear that before the round starts).

If you don't want to hear the friendly banter between the map loads, you can either leave your computer for a minute or two or like Rooter says, mute and deafen yourself with 2 new hotkeys.

Actually yeah, I would support this. Its always easier if you are only listening to your SL before the game starts.

Let's go, let's go overground

Take your head out of the mud baby

I think rather than writing down more rules for something that not enough people use as it is, just yell at everyone to shut up if they're getting too loud.

Means less work policing/creating rules and will probably happen anyway.

Used to be a rule that at 1:30 on the countdown timer, everyone on mumble shuts up (or was it 30 or 1:00?) So that people could talk to their squad members abotuthe start of the round, without having other noises.

I dont see why it isnt just reimplemented?

As you have said that sort of form is generally the way its been on all channels, its part of the culture isnt it, with the occasional spike of random buffoonery

Yep 1:30 don't be a stain and RESPECT other players.

Connecting to IP with Password TBA and it's not letting me through. Done something wrong?

I guess my point was perhaps to try and avoid one of the reasons perhaps 'the old guard' didn't take a shine to mumble in the past...

But if most people are on the same page it's easier to drive the behaviors which will make most people happy most of the time :)

I like the 1.30 squad only idea, Also when you first spawn in main use the squad chat button and not the local one, else you get a tsunami of chatter engulf your face. Apart from that I do like being able to speak to people when the map is first loading, its nice.
Why cant we Be friends?

My 2 cents, after match banter = go for it.

After next map has loaded and timer hits 1:30 squad chat only so squad leaders can tell members whats going to happen,

and squad leaders can talk to each other to plan attack or defence
