Hi friends,

My name is Sapper and I have now been without Mumble for 8 weeks.

*everybody says 'Hi Sapper'*

I used to have Mumble 1.0 running fine, communicating with other squads and even calling for a rez from unresponsive smurf medics. That was until I had a problem with Skyrim and I thought 'Hey, I bet if I reinstall Windows XP, that will solve all of my problems.' That was back in January, and I have been copping a hard time off SamEEE for not running Mumble ever since.

Since this Windows reinstallation, my problem is: When I start Mumble 1.0, it starts and connects fine to the 'Mumble network/ether'. Immediately after Mumble starts up, but before I get a chance to start PR, my headset begins disconnecting and reconnecting, over and over, every couple of seconds. And so begins the cycle of the hardware disconnect and reconnect sounds, along with my mouse pointer stalling on the screen with each disconnect / reconnect cycle.

I have two headsets, both of which encounter this problem - a Plantronics 995 wireless and a Turtle Beach PX21 wired. They are both USB - the wireless one has a USB base station.

My BF2 : PR voip works fine, so I cop flak for not being on Mumble :disgust:

I have tried to resolve this problem by reinstalling both XP and PR on multiple occasions, and I am going through the motions of reinstalling again today. I have even tried reinstalling XP and loading up Mumble 1.0 straight away. Even this scenario saw this same problem arise! WTF?

I am beginning to think that Mumble doesn't like me.

I will probably get another PC before EOFY, so no big deal. If Mumble doesn't work on the new PC

My system is:

Intel Core 2 Q9400

4GB RAM

Windows XP

ATI Radeon 4870 1GB

My computer expertise level is:

Mediocre

MaSSive' date=' post: 0"']Are you using new PR mumble client? You can get it here.

Best for you would be to uninstall all versions of mumble and reinstall with the one I gave you. Since you're running it on Win XP I guess there is no need to run it as admin just make sure you go trough setup wizard and set everything right.

I may be way off here, but I thought all that 'Run as Administrator' stuff was an issue in Vista and Win7. This is XP SP3 here mate. I can run Mumble in 'Compatability Mode' if that's what you mean?

I know i'm not samEEE, Shady or Vapo

but when loading up PR:mumble again, go to Configure -> Settings

and then your Audio input, if it's not set to default device, set it to that. Otherwise just set it to the jack that your headset is plugged into... also make sure you are running it in admin mode, you can just head to the properties of your shortcut and then to compatibility (i'm using Win7 so it might not be there) and just check the box that says run this program as admin. hope this helps

Well basically we're fighting a native people who was overthrown by our imperialistic government which is situated elsewhere. Our nation's desire is to maintain these various underlying colonies. In particular this form of state has multiple resistance factions which ultimately fights for an independent sovereign nation. Meanwhile we fight to eliminate their unruly resistance to our suppressive discriminatory government. Therefor and thusly, we are all stuck, in a giant, Team Deathmatch.

It might be an XP + USB headset issue?

See if you can't get a cheapy microphone that plugs in through the jacks, if it still doesn't work then it may be a problem with XP.

I am struggling to embed screenshots here...

Mumble connects OK. WinXP doesn't require you to run stuff as Admin.

To re-iterate: Mumble 1.0 worked before on this PC with the same headset! I don't know what the !@#$ has happened.

Thanks to all for helping (thought SamEEE might step up here)

Where have you been D/Ling Mumble from ?, I would uninstall all prevoius versions and try it again off this link.. http://realitymodfiles.com/dbzao/PR_Mumble_1.0.0_Beta_4.msi

May not solve the drama but will eliminate the possibility you have the wrong version.. ?

Or go to properties in your mumble desktop short cut and c & P the target location for us

When I'm trying to get stuff going I run it from its folder:

C:\Program Files\PR Mumble

The mumble file version from the properties tab is 1.2.4.0

The mumble version while the program is running is 1.0.0

My mumble install file is the same as in your link - 12,337kB

SamEEE,

My issue may not really be with mumble itself, it's that my headsets (either of the 2 that i have) keep connecting and disconnecting whenever mumble is running.
