Tonights shambles to me highlights the importance for mumble.

What I propose is to do what the flashing banner says at the top of the game - Encourage the use of mumble. I think the best way is to get more people on it.

The more people there are the better. TS is antiquated compared to mumble's fully integrated system. The advantages are clear - local 3D chat; easy inter-squad chat.

There isn't much that I hate more than comms spam - it just leads to an overload of stuff you don't need to know about. With mumble it is easy to cut down on such white noise.

Playing on the servers state side has shown me that its an awesome system if everyone uses it. K&H enforces it strictly and TG heavily encourages the use of it.

I, for one, won't be taking people into my squads from now on who don't have mumble. :hi:

Latest version of AD Framework has built in mumble warning/kicking if you're not in Mumble. But considering the low amounts of players on the servers these days, might not be a good idea...

I'm 100% for making mumble compulsory! However that may be a bit extreme. Mumble makes it a lot easier to split the squad into 2 fire teams and makes flanking easier. On top of that, it makes being a medic so much easier, when you can get your recently shot buddy to talk you in, no more running around like a headless chicken!

I don't see a reason why people wouldn't WANT to use mumble. It's so cool..

EDIT: All of the squad leaders on BLUFOR were on mumble, with the exception of the BLP guys...

Samee, You can use them both at the same time, TS for SL only for ease, and Mumble for standard comms between players.

And also get over yourself, all you had to do was join and yet you had to be stubborn and quit.

No u.

Do you know how intercommunication between squads works with mumble? So easy

1=squad 1

2=squad 2

....

....

etc

*= all squads

/= commander only

You can talk to whoever you want - without the random spam. Keep it simple is my standard operating procedure. Why have more than one system?

I got to say that i have never used TS until this night, previously i have always used mumble. I found using TS a bit too spamy. I really like mumble for the local chat. The new version of mumble is so easy to install and use. I Would like to see it given a go at least.

Cheers

Why cant we Be friends?
but over the past couple days it has actually picked up quite a bit, maybe not enforcing it so much as you threaten to kick people(like what happened with the ts problem earlier...) but push people, it really is part of what PR actually aims to do which is, re-enact real warfare on a very bad engine.

Well basically we're fighting a native people who was overthrown by our imperialistic government which is situated elsewhere. Our nation's desire is to maintain these various underlying colonies. In particular this form of state has multiple resistance factions which ultimately fights for an independent sovereign nation. Meanwhile we fight to eliminate their unruly resistance to our suppressive discriminatory government. Therefor and thusly, we are all stuck, in a giant, Team Deathmatch.

I Wouldn't Mind an Event every Now And Them With Mumble Only, Voip Disabled And no TS Or Something, But For The public Server i Think People should Be Allowed A Choice Just Like TS.

I personally attribute the lower population to the complete lack of team work.

Bf3 and Skyrim are old news now, you can't blame them for the low population any more. From what I've seen a majority of the Australian PR community either got bored of the useless squabble running around disorganised and stopped playing or shifted to US servers for proper solid rounds.

Mumble is one of the only things that can make a stale engine bearable, it's no longer hard to set up, you just install, run as admin before opening PR and you're good to go. There's no where near as much useless spam as Teamspeak and it's a hell load more fun.

If you take a look at some of the servers that have a mumble required policy, they have a much higher population, there's a general fun attitude and I've had some of my best rounds on them.

It takes 10 seconds max.... I would say the way mumble works now is one of the most important things in PR and one of the best aids for teamwork. 90+% of Big D's community would have it and I'm sure if it was compulsory the ones that don't would get it.

Connecting to IP with Password TBA and it's not letting me through. Done something wrong?

:withstupidsmiley:

I've just got into the habit of starting mumble up (right click on the icon and then run as administrator)

Installing the PR 1.0 beta version of mumble takes takes about 5 mins ( 2 or 3 setting configs which are basically; click yes)

squad voip is the num 0 (ive changed it to mouse side button 4)

and global is defaulted at the letter (H)

there are opps for suad leaders to talk directly to one and other numbers 1 through 9

When bigD has no one on ive been lurking with some hookers, pigs n some hardcores from Jap n Chi servers n everyone is on it. It is compulsory on one. it adds a great function to the game,

recommend it

ohh ps there are sub communities made up of some real units in there, its good value

I think you mean local chat is H - I made this B and remapped my mumble squad chat to V :) I don't bother using ingame chat if I can manage.

ohh yeah, Cheers SamEEE, i ment all the local lurkers within about 70m will hear it :)

global was completely the wrong terminology

+1

Mumble is a lot more useful and easy to use than what people think.

Compulsory for SL's on organised events I'd agree with.

^This.

A good compromise that helps everyone and detracts from nobodies experience. If any SL's complain about having to use mumble, they probably shouldn't be SL's...

after needing to download and install the latest version to play on the CIA server i fully agree with a samee on this one. Mumble 1.0 is far superior to previous version and everything is done for you. I did not realise this was the case until giving it another go.

Correct me if i'm wrong but this is what i see mumble 1.0 as being,

- dedicated SL channel set up automatically

- dedicated Commander channel set up automatically

- dedicated channels to communicate to each SL only

- local chat for surrounding players (as always)

- dedicated chat to your own squad (replaces VOIPs functions)

- automatically locates the server your playing on, squad youre in and places you there without you having to do anything

I think these options are just as, if not more important, when playing with small numbers on the server.

if you've used mumble before and didnt like it....i suggest you give it another go and i think youll be very surprised how its evolved and it will be the step forward in the future where VOIP maybe switched off in PR and Mumble fully integrated, so the sooner you pick it up and use it the better.

Nobody who is an advocate of Mumble denies the immersion it brings. There will always be discussion about how it's implemented (i.e; separate channels) as I know of players who don't agree with the current settings...

There has been a message encouraging the use of mumble for over a year. If you would like to suggest rewording to make it more effective please do so.

Tonights shambles......

Admins are reviewing the outcome of the night based on feedback from the community, the person organising the event, their perceptions and the chatlogs and will obviously take everything suggested into consideration for future events.

Oh and it may be wise to note, many of the newer players have jumped on the mumble bandwagon. It's mainly older players who have some kind of vendetta against it.

look personally I stopped using mumble when they made each team a separate channel. the thrill of mumble for me was that when you got close to the enemy positions it was "no comms" and trying to hear where abouts the enemy positions where by hearing them talk as well. and for the people who say that each team speaks a different language so they are against a single mumble channel i say one word "translators"
i was sitting in a shopping mall up-stairs eating area by myself crying while trying to eat this ****, people were looking...it was embarrasing

I wont be made to use mumbles, period. I NEVER TL in any clan/community events, i keep a constant comm link to my SQL at all times via the supplied in-game VOIP solution. I am a soldier, MY TL tells me whats important, not some other TL from another SQD.

I use TS for more than just PR, i use it for every single Multi-player game i own so i can communicate with family, friends and clan mates. I know mumble can have a plugin to make it compatible with more games however TS already fills the gap for me and i dont feel the need to install more useless crap on my rig.

Immersion? [N/A] is renowned for getting the grog on to increase... "immersion", personally I get massively ripped before and during EVERY PR MATCH i am apart of... GREAT immersion! But i am sure as hell not going to start telling everyone to do it much less attempt to make it mandatory to play the game.
