OK so it's been a little while since we announced one of these and this is bugger all notice, but all BigD community members are invited, as always, to the next Combat Sims deployment in Brisbane.

 

Not sure how much point this is though, I already count 8 BigD members on the attendee list :-)

 

If anyone's been thinking about coming for a while, now is as good a time as ever. The graphics are way better than Project Reality and you can even run up hills with greater than a 3 degree incline.

Right you have read all this jibber jab and you have said to yourself I'm keen HOW DO I GET THERE? Well here are some maps. The (Scouts) Baden Powell Park at Samford has an entrance of Samford Rd, with a missing gate. General location here - entrance off Samford Rd. or Cash Ave depending on which one is most accessible.

 

Please note there is no need to come earlier than 0900 as the grounds will not be open to anyone who is not admin and there is not a lot of parking near the drive way. Also if in doubt INDICATE EARLY! People really fly up and down Samford Rd on and they are liable to wipe you out.

I might actually be interested, but i would need a bit more information, what specific things will you need to be able to participate? also i would probably need transportation from brissy to this place, money is no problem so i would definetly be able to supply petrol money and the like.

Shifty, in a nutshell, this is laser skirmish for adults. It's targeted toward people who enjoy games like Project Reality and ARMA but want to do it in real life :-)

 

What do you need? You need to be 18+ (or 17+ with prior approval), have at least 2L of water in bottles or a bladder, have enclosed shoes and most importantly, have the desire to work as part of a team to achieve the objectives you're tasked with completing.

 

You'll be lead by an experienced section leader and work with a bunch of guys who are easy to get along with. Prior experience in this kind of thing is unnecessary.

Segmentor, i am 19 although i do not live in Brissy, i live near the coffs coast but i can get up into the city and back, I've been interested in this for a while but until recently i have not had the resources to go. I look forward to working as a team, how will payment be made? via pay-pal or credit card or pay on the day?

Shifty - wow, that's a fair bloody hike! If you're definitely committed to coming to this or a future session let me know how and where you would be arriving and I'm sure we could arrange someone to transfer you to/from the city. (or you could catch a train to ferny grove station which is closer to the field and someone could grab you from there)

Great session; will post some photos when I get a chance over the next few days. Had 11 players per side, plus yellowfor and command.

Was an awesome day, although stinking hot, but that's QLD summer for you. That said, that was nothing compared to Cairns summer.

No idea about combat sims, but I know of a few guys who do a very similar thing... with paintball. Send a pm to flatking if you're keen to get shot up.

ComSims is based in Brisbane, but have a sister group in Victoria and soon to be South Austalia. Nothing as yet in NSW due to the current imitation laws there

yeah, thats the one. apparently they do "advanced" sessions, which are mil sim style, but not as hardcore as combat sims.

Many operators do "advanced" sessions with too little emphasis on the quotes. Rock up to a session and see if it's your thing.
