BigD Mumble only & Map Pack event

 

Date: Sunday 18th December 2011

Time: 5:30pm AEST, 6:00pm CDT, 6:30pm AEDT, 3:30pm WST, 8:30pm NZ.

The time has been planned earlier than usual so more people get the chance to play.

Requirements:

PR Mumble beta 1.0: Download PR:Mumble 1.0

PR 0.97 Map Pack: Will be linked upon release

Sign up not required.

 

 

The objective of this event is to get people familiarised with the new mumble as well has getting people to have a fun original experience playing some of the maps from the map pack.

 

First we will start up the night with some infantry action on Tad Sae Offensive, then move onto a combined arms round of our own Aussie made map Black Gold and after that an insurgency game of Operation Marlin.

 

In game BF2 VOIP will be disabled, so mumble will be the only means of communication. The new 1.0 beta version of mumble features its own squad chat, squad leader chat, as well as the direction chat. It will also automatically join the correct mumble channel upon loading into the server, just make sure you've got the new version installed and running before you start PR.

 

If it's possible try getting mumble and the map pack installed and working before the event so we can help you iron out any problems you may have.

 

 

Here's the list of default mumble keys. It is possible to change these by going into mumble>configure>settings>shortcuts.

• Local Speech (default H): you talk to players in the 3D world in a radius around you.

• Squad Radio (default NUM 0): you talk to your squad, no matter where they are, like BF2 voip B.

• Squad Leader to all Squad Leaders Radio (default NUM *): you talk to all Squad Leaders in the team.

• Squad Leader to specific Squad Leader Radio (default NUM 1-9): you talk to a specific Squad Leader in the team.

• Squad Leader to Commander Radio (default NUM /): you talk to only the Commander, like BF2 voip V.

• Commander to all or specific Squad Leaders Radio: same as described above, but starting with the Commander.

Mumble also has an overlay to see who's talking. You can download a pre made overlay here vapooverlay.zip . Just go into mumble>configure>settings>overlay, and LOAD the extracted file.

 

If you having any problems with mumble try one of these troubleshooting tips.

If possible, you should Run PR:Mumble as Administrator to avoid issues with Battlefield 2 not linking. In our tests it varies from computer to computer, but you should see a "Battlefield 2 linked" message in the PR:Mumble sidebar when logging in PR. If that message pops-up, you are good to go.

 

If your voice is not coming through to other players, or vice-versa, try changing the Sound Input/Output Devices in PR:Mumble settings. That is usually enough to get it working, although the default should work for most people.

Sorry if this is a tad picky of a request, however is there any chance this page can get the DL link for the mappack added to it? (So we can see/read this then download in anticipation of its epicness :guitar:)

Well there are 3 maps planned, it really depends on numbers as to how long the event will go for, at least 2-4 hours hopefully.

I was going to but my other PC has stoped working so Im trying to install bf2 on this one and play hopefully
