Rangeway, Tarcoola Beach and Spalding = LOTSA crime

The analysis of insurance claims over a two year period identified Geraldton and Kalgoorlie as the hot spots for property crime with eight of the 10 worst suburbs coming from these cities.
.

My Parents lived there for a while, as did Wifeys olds............ Sorry but it really is a Poo hole in most regards.

Heres a list of all the Suburbs and some demographics.

The good ones are the places you don't get robbed or bashed for a cigarette within 3 mins of going there.

not sure mate but the job offer is a good one and prospects for jobs in agri banking are slim in NSW as of late and I can handle a rough town I lived in Dubbo and that is how a mate described Geraldton Dubbo on the beach

I havent seen much of Geraldton but I have been to Kalbarri which is about 2 hours north. Pretty good place for fishing, swimming and 4wd. :cowboy:

It looked like a nice area for a holiday, but I wouldn't know much about living there. It looked quite industrial from what I remember it.

I am looking forward to the fishing and camping and 4 wd as the company provides one

Take up windsurfing or Kitesurfing ... best place in the world for howling winds most days of the year ...

I don't procrastinate. I just like to do things later.

Howling winds aren't so good for fishing

Abrolhos Islands lie about 60 kilometres west of Geraldton,

Great fishing, surfing and other aquatic activities

Geros not that bad, well maybe for those suburbs B listed above (altho a mate DID live in T.Beach for a few years without any issues at all...well the cops were called to his house on a tip about a 'domestic dispute' getting a little heated...only downside of naming your dog a chicks name and yelling at her when she gets in the chook pen.).

Have another mate living up there whose an ambo, lives right on (well 150m from) the beach and loves it.

Thanks Mcdeth I will find out this weekend as they fly me and the wife over on Friday for the weekend interview Sunday morning.

I have been told it is Dubbo on the beach and the family loved Dubbo so I think I will be headed that way if the job is offered.

NP, was thinking about a move up there a few years back when they were selling 1ha blocks near the airport. Love planes so was right up my alley. Dont know if they are still there now tho...

Sorry, I don't get back here very often these days.

It isn't that bad here. The place has cleaned itself up a fair bit over the years. Rangeway and Spalding aren't as bad as people make out but they do have pretty high crime rates. I wouldn't live there but you don't have to drive through them with your windows up or anything. Regardless, unless you're buying drugs you won't have to visit them unless you want to play golf at the Spalding course (which is the good one) and you won't run into any trouble there. Tarcoola Beach is fine but I wouldn't want to live there. Having said that, heaps of families live there with no problems. Sunset Beach is worse.

Do not live in Utakarra.

Most of the crime is bored poor kids and seeing as you're past your school years you should be fine. Pub fights are mostly 18 year olds with something to prove. I've never, ever been in a fight with a random stranger here.

If you want a decent suburb snag a place in Wandina (Seacrest) or Mount Tarcoola. Drummonds is new and nice but it's REALLY far away from everything (which some people seem to love). If it's Elders you're going to be working for, they're pretty central so most of the suburbs here you'd be fine with.

The wind is sometimes a drag in summer (you can't do anything in it when it's really blowing) but mostly comes on in the afternoon. Easter has our best weather.

If you're past your night club days you won't miss anything by never visiting them.

Pubs are good. Pub food is good (the Freo is always decent is you can't decide).

Schools are fine they range from basic state stuff to crazy expensive private gigs.

If you have young kids they'll love the new foreshore.

Popular sports are all pretty well represented.

It isn't as dero as people think. The crayfishing industry isn't as profitable as it used to be so all the bogan deckhands work in Dampier now.

EDIT: oh and McDeth, you can still pick up blocks out towards the airport but prices here are redonkulous at the moment.

Thanks Bisho

Enjoyed my visit and it is a decent city and if I get the job we will have a house in seacreast as the boss has located one from a previous employee and she is keen to rent it out.
