Heeelllo bigD! I've been meaning to make a post on these forums (I posted a very similar post in the PR forums) for a while now regarding the University indie project I've been involved in for the past year. It's where I've dedicated a lot of my time and a big reason why I have been unable to focus purely on PR mapping, but, I have had a fantastic time working on it, learned a hell of lot and had the pleasure of working with some fantastic people.
Stranded is a top down survival/shooter developed by five members of Nyx Studios, all studying at the Queensland University of Technology under the Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment. Using a custom built engine from scratch by the immensely talented Jonathan, our great AI and general programmer Jayden, animator and character modeller Dane, Kyle for his role as producer and head of narrative, and myself in charge of level design, environment art and texturing (All of which I am fairly still intermediate at
)
Early area play through (bit of an older version, lots of changes since):

The game has been in development since February this year - engine prep and planning until late June and full development since July. Making a game without all the bells and whistles of a AAA engine has taught me a lot more than I ever would have learned otherwise, and I hope to continue development next year and beyond.
The open beta is currently available on IndieDB, so if you like, download it, play around and give us your thoughts! There will be problems of course like any beta release so feedback on any issues you have is very important to us. It currently isn't a very large game - it was never allowed to be due to time constraints, but hopefully it will give you a little bit of short term enjoyment
