Posted October 3, 201113 yr Hey everyone, Basically, as the title suggests FF won't work. I'm back at school, and for the past two years all I've had to do was plug the ethernet cord into my computer and the wall, and it automagically got the correct Proxy settings and all that business sorted. Plug and play, you could say Now, I plugged it in and nothing comes up. What used to happen was a small authorisation popup would appear, a few seconds later I would be logged in and all would be sweet. But not this time, it just says FF could not load the page, make sure proxy settings are correct, you haven't typed the name wrong etc. Don't know whats wrong, I tried IE9 and it's working fine (but I hate it, and it hates me and all my stuff is saved in FF). Has anyone got any suggestions? I can't even load school pages, such as webmail, on FF but I can on IE9 with no issues. Also, tried with both FF6 and FF7 to no avail. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
October 3, 201113 yr I had that earlier, I re downloaded FF using IE (to "repair FF") then rebooted the PC, not sure if that helped or if it went away on its own though. http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
October 3, 201113 yr Author Yeah thanks for your help, tried deleting the cache & history and everything like that, then updating again and restarting but the same thing occurs. 'Server Not Found'. Windows networking is saying everything is fine, and I can connect using IE9, but it's really annoying... http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
October 3, 201113 yr Firefox proxy settings. I ran MalwareBytes over a PC one time and it turns the proxy settings on but using blank details so it ain't worky at all. Was scratching my head for a few hours. Set it to off or auto. May not be this but sounds most likely. I use Chrome though so can't explain to how to get to those settings, probably under connection or privacy etc. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.

October 3, 201113 yr Hey Xavo..what OS are you using?. My laptop running Vista is still having issues with FF, but the main PC running W7 is fine. Edit = I checked the settings on the laptop, all looks like it should be...but its just failing to connect to sites on FF. IE works fine (but sucks warm balls :stink:) Edited October 3, 201113 yr by Gunner_downer http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
October 4, 201113 yr Author Fixed. Thanks for your help, @ Ozpain thats what I had originally, and it wasn't working. I believe it was something to do with the school though, because the popup window came up this time and logged me on. (still weird that IE doesn't ask for ID or anything.) I didn't do anything, I just assume that the school fixed w/e was blocking it yesterday... Thanks for the help fellas. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
October 21, 201113 yr Author New problem. Was just on firefox, talking on facebook - then on skype. Skype dropped the call and firefox didn't load and now throws up the error 'You have been blacklisted because your computer violated a policy in the following category: P2P Protocols'. Skype isn't P2P is it? And facebook is unblocked at this time, so I'm not sure what I've done. Guess I'll have to talk to IT on Monday, but I want to understand what I've done wrong... Seems to have resolved itself again, this is weird as! Edited October 21, 201113 yr by BaseJump http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
October 22, 201113 yr That sounds like a NetBox Blocking message. If it detects a policy violation it will blacklist your pc/protocol for a predetermined time or until an admin removes you from the blacklist. Thats why it "seems to resolve itself" yours must be for a certain time period. The skype protocol is proprietary and based on peer 2 peer (P2P) architecture so its grouped in the P2P Protocol list.... And yes I admin a netbox at work. :-) So how do you become an expert suicide bomber? teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".
