Posted August 23, 201113 yr Hi there, I have been trying desperately to launch UAV since path 0.966 but I can't seem to launch it. What is the procedure? In Muttrah city, as a US, I tried climbing all the way up to the Command Post on the Carrier (in Co-op) but I can't enter inside by pressing the Enter key (as in vehicles). I also placed a UAV marker which never appeared... Unless it does not work on Co-Op mode, I will try on a BigD server later. :cowboy: [Special Response Team] Teamwork is one - Experience is second - Tactic is third Me and Roy - we go in as one. August 23, 201113 yr i think you dont enter, but go to your tab screen. Unsure if you need to be in your command post or near it to do this properly. then drop uav on map like a normal marker....then wait.....it takes a long time to get to the battleground. August 23, 201113 yr From the manual: http://www.realitymod.com/manual/pr_manual.pdf The commander of conventional forces and the militia is able to control an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from his team's command post or armored command vehicle (ACV). The UAV in Project Reality does not reveal enemy positions automatically but gives the commander the means to survey the battlefield visually. The commander can control the UAV's camera while it cruises at a constant altitude. ○ The UAV is launched by placing the UAV marker on the command map. It takes 3 minutes for the UAV to reach the target area. ○ The camera has three magnification settings switched with the pop smoke key (default: X) and can operate in normal and thermal mode (selectable using 1 & 2). In thermal mode it can be used to mark targets with a laser. These targets stay marked for 30 seconds. ○ The UAV can be relocated by assigning it a new position on the map. It will take another 3 minutes to reach the new location. ○ After a flight time of about 20 minutes the UAV needs to be refueled. Refueling the UAV takes 10 minutes. August 23, 201113 yr I'm going to command some time just so i can look through it The lazer spotting feature seems very powerful and i believe very under used due to having very little commander up time on maps that need it. Does Russia get this on Beirut? Or the one where they come in from the Carrier/boaty. Maybe that would make the chopper more viable and stop the r_pe train of vehicles when Russia only gets Rpgs that drop like bricks. getting mad for peoples amusement
August 23, 201113 yr Author From the manual: http://www.realitymod.com/manual/pr_manual.pdf Yes Vapo, I have read it. And let me ask you, once launched (marker placed) - what do you press? What happens next? Wait? So the FLIR screen just comes up automatically? It just replaces the big map? I want more than the manual...I don't know how to get to that stage where I can see the cam in the air...it just replaces the map? Do I have to be in (enter) the Commander Vehicle? A stepwise tutorial would be nice. drop uav on map like a normal marker....then wait.....it takes a long time to get to the battleground. The thing is, I dropped [the UAV marker] before (that was before 0.966 I think and as mentioned in the manual - I waited a very very very long time on the TAB screen. And for 15 min nothing on the screen changed except with the blue circles moving around the whole map (where I place markers by right click). August 23, 201113 yr If I recall, once the UAV is deployed (3 mins after you put the UAV marker down) a message should come up saying that its ready. All you have to do is close your commander screen (default key caps lock) and the UAV screen should be there. And yes you have to be in the commander vehicle, as it says in the manual: The commander of conventional forces and the militia is able to control an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from his team's command post or armored command vehicle (ACV). Just get in it by pressing E just like any other vehicle. Edited August 23, 201113 yr by Austin "Eight glorious sides and eight stunning angles!"
August 23, 201113 yr Flow ! flip the UAV over - you are reading the english instructions ! - ok go to the crate - grab the bird key from crate - now put the key in the bird and wind it 49 times ( do not do 50 or it will poop in your hand !! ) - now throw in the air and say "fly be free" - wait 3 minutes for the bird to reach optimum pooping height and the webcam will turn on. - walk to your virtual chat machine in the tent of dirty thought - press view birdcam. - and now you can see boobs n stuff ! you need to be in the comms tent/hut/wigwam (press your "use" key) and on the commander screen to view it. (it will appear to travel along the ground while deploying - it isn't, its in a static position trying to do its circles - usually not far from the comms tent) if you see it doing this - just wait 3 minutes for it to deploy (usually orange text and a bleep will tell you when its ready, available, unavailable - similar to the rally point sound and text "readiness") some factions only get one view option or no thermals. (1-4). right click to use targeting laz0rs in thermal (not always available). X to zoom in and out. only thing that annoys me about it - i think we should be able to control its flight path with the wasd keys even if its at a slow pace. bare in mind the UAV will deploy one full grid square ABOVE where you place the marker. anything else ? m00
August 23, 201113 yr Flow ! only thing that annoys me about it - i think we should be able to control its flight path with the wasd keys even if its at a slow pace. it used to be like that and i liked it - except sometimes on heavy jumble maps or kashan you got lost as it was closer to the ground and only looked strait down http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9148800/sigdamit33.png
August 23, 201113 yr Author I will insert interpretation in red (if I don't get it, sorry :shower: ) Flow ! flip the UAV over - you are reading the english instructions ! - ok go to the crate - grab the bird key from crate --> the Officer kit - now put the key in the bird and wind it 49 times ( do not do 50 or it will poop in your hand !! ) Uh what? - now throw in the air and say "fly be free" Put marker on map after 1 min marker wait - wait 3 minutes for the bird to reach optimum pooping height and the webcam will turn on. ...UAV flight time - walk to your virtual chat machine in the tent of dirty thought - press view birdcam. Except for the sarcasm  I found the bolded ones useful. If I recall, once the UAV is deployed (3 mins after you put the UAV marker down) a message should come up saying that its ready. All you have to do is close your commander screen (default key caps lock) and the UAV screen should be there. That is the extra bit from the manual that I was looking for. Will give yours a try next time on BigD too. [Special Response Team] Teamwork is one - Experience is second - Tactic is third Me and Roy - we go in as one. August 23, 201113 yr Yeah, it's much easier to use now tbh, just a little restricted in its movement Inq. Ford_Jam001 "Towards danger; but not too rashly, nor too straight" Consider playing with Inqursion.See here.
August 23, 201113 yr I commanded tonight, didn't really communicate the first round as the TEAM STACK was HUGE and RETARDED Next round was a lil better, commanded and flew that UAV up there...god it is OVERPOWERED! You can see everything, laze targets. Some maps you can see the WHOLE battlefield with it. Whats that? a hidden FOB to the west in the jungle? LOL NOPE 1 man lone wolf own it ahahahahaha , 3 minutes to re position? brb popcorn getting mad for peoples amusement
August 23, 201113 yr Go commander Make sure you have an officer kit Open command screen (default: caps lock) Wait for the marker bar to fill up Right click somewhere on the map, and press UAV UAV will start to deploy to its position. It will take 3 minutes to deploy to its position. When this 3 minutes is up, you will get a message saying it's ready. Hop in your teams ACV (the vehicle with the tent on the back, has a grey command post map icon, entry point is just outside the tent) You are now in the UAV... Note: If you hop in the ACV during the 3 minute UAV deploy time, you may see that your UAV is in the ground. This is normal, it'll be fine after the 3 minutes To relocate the UAV to another spot on the map, repeat the above steps. It will take 3 minutes to relocate. You cannot use the UAV while it's relocating. You can enter and exit as many times as you want. The UAV will keep flying around no worries. The UAV will remain flying for 20 minutes, with it slowly rotating clockwise around the point where you deployed the UAV. Once the 20 minutes is up, it'll take 10 minutes for the UAV to refuel and be ready for flight again. Relocating the UAV will eat into this 20 minutes, the timer doesn't stop or reset when relocating. Switch "weapons" to change between normal and thermals. In thermal view, you can fire a laser to designate targets for things, which can be pretty handy. Use your flares key (default: x) to zoom in for a close up view of the ground below. Militia do not get thermals on their UAV, so they cannot laze targets. They will also have a black and white camera instead of colour. Pretty simple yeah? http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
