Hi all,

I've been quiet for awhile due to work and a surprise move up near the Canadian Arctic. I moved to Yellowknife as the missus got a job up here. I love it so far and everyone is really friendly and kind.

It's a pretty small town and it takes just a few minutes in a vehicle to get into the bush. There are bear warnings and wolves come into town every so often. Bears come in all the time and they just had to destroy one that would not stop coming in. There are wolverines and the whole array of wildlife except for polar bears thank god. Those things are incredibly dangerous.

I'm going to go all redneck while I'm here. Hey might as well right? I bought a lifted Toyota 4Runner and love the thing. Next some rifles and a skidoo.

I also am putting in my application for the Loyal Edmonton Regiment which is up here. Not armoured this time but infantry is the only choice which will be fun anyway. They rip around on ATV's and Skidoo's up here in training which will be awesome. Plus Arctic warfare training will be very interesting.

I moved here because the missus knew I wanted to go home and gave her job loads of notice then went after an internal transfer. As BHP is the second or third biggest company in the world and she's awesome at her job she scored it. They even paid for the relocation and a visit for both of us as part of the employment process. I got to fly business class!!!

I just want to say thanks to all of you for the years of friendship and help with my PC. Especially Psyrus and Evilrooter who I met up with in order for these two gentlemen to give me a hand due to me knowing sfa about computers when it comes down to it really. I have gotten better and it's thanks to all of you boys here at bD.

Also thanks to Wolf Company, the best clan I've ever been in anywhere.

I will still be around but it will be harder to game together for a few years until I return to Australia. I will be coming back for sure. Australia is awesome and I am a citizen now. Oh and I'm sure Sarah would like to live in her homeland again especially when we decide to start a family.

When I figure out how to make photo's smaller I'll put them up starting with my redneck truck!

Awesome bud, the wife went through Canada on her round the world sojourn with her two buds and still raves about the place. Dont forget to get your accent back and remember to stick "ey" at the end of every sentence (o:

Enjoyed that story. There's something to be said about spending more than a couple of months experiencing life in another part of the world. The Blushing Bride and I had 15 months away 2008/9, spending most of that in Swansea, Wales.

Enjoy the big adventure.

Just out of curiosity mate, what is the timezone difference like between here and there - and you should definitely measure what sort of ping you get onto BigD from over there!

It's not so bad for ping right up until you hit Australia. Fibre optic cables run from here to the Australian shores. :)

Fall, we share that task. No kids yet but that's a reason we are up here. Getting ready for that part of life. I have no say though, as soon as she's prego we are back in Oz. Her mom said so.......... grrr

-22 mean max, oh shiz. Thanks for the heads up Hell. I went from the WA desert which got over 50+. It gets less than -50 here so that temperature difference is like ice and boiling water!!!!

McDeth, yeah I sound funny everyone thinks I'm Australian which is amusing.

1rank, yeah up North it's not a bad plan to go armed out in the bush. Wolves, wolverines, grizzlys and moose are damn dangerous. People also ask where you are going not to be nosy but to alert authorities if you are very late. It's really, really isolated here.

Gunner, look me up dude I can give you a place to stay for a visit if you are in my area.

Xavo, I want a ride on a DC-3 I'll get pictures!!

Salty, I agree. So glad to have Australia as a second home!

Charger, I want to bring my redneck truck back to Oz. I'll come up to Qld and make sure I see you for beer and running over stuff.

I must say, I do miss WA beer already. Redback is awesome.

Australian wine is also some of the best on the planet. Not found any good Canuck ones yet.......

However, damn it's good to be in my home country again. Nearly eight years was long enough. Not quite home yet but getting closer.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Noddy, even the locals laugh about a persons first winter. The one word fits!

Good to hear from you.. Nice that work looked after you both also, got to be happy with that. We also travelled up until the kids started coming... Ahh.. 15 years ago now, but only seems like 5. Good memories.
