Hiya,

 

so I recently bought BF2 on Steam (partially because DICE deserves all my money for it and partly I was at a LAN wanting to play AIX). I've also recently upgraded to Win7 64bit. Order of events is BF2 on Steam followed by Vista upgrade to Win7.

 

Now, when I try to launch through Steam, the bf2 exe crashes. I really can't be arsed with reinstalling from disc and then going through that list of patches again, is anyone aware of this issue and can offer some advice?

i herd you have to disable the steam overlay or punkbuster kicks you ?

i thinks its crashing before he gets that far Maz.

 

cant run it without steam i suppose ?

 

running it as admin ?

Its not possibly a compatibility issue is it? As in run as admin or something like that?

 

Ive got BF2 on steam and it runs fine. (though im on XP not Vista)

 

Tried all the usuals?

Tell it to check for updates

clear caches

Run in compatibility

 

If none of those work, id ignore steam as an issue. And look for what issues others have had with win 7 and PR/BF2.

 

Edit: Yea turn the overlay off, as itll kick you via pb claiming it as hacks. Although i dont think you have reached that yet lol.

Okay, deleted it then tried to reinstall from disc... for some reason that wouldn't get me past the initial splash page.

 

Reinstalled from Steam backup instead and now I can get into BF2. Will install PR now and see how I go.

Yep PR now works.. shame the only map on at the moment is Jabal Al-Burj... hate that thing.
