Great map, you can tell the creator has spent alot of time working on the layout and gameplay but in my opinion the rubber banding issue isn't bearable (like walking down a hill and nearly dying, we put up with it)

 

My guess is we'll see this map off the rotation in a week or two, unless anyone has heard about upcoming fixes?

 

EDIT: Just checked the bug feedback at PR and there's no mention of rubber banding

 

EDIT: The bug report of the APC is there but a solution won't be given until the next client release not a server hotfix, how long till the next update? 9months? goodbye Shijia Valley :(

played it for the first time last night and had some rubber man issues though the map its self makes up for it.

 

Can reducing your graphics setting aid in reducing this effect or is it all to do with the complex map setup?

No, rubber banding is server side I believe, caused by mis-information on where the character is located, the servers response is to teleport the character to the perceived location... although I can't see the link here with a large detailed map or maybe the link is obvious either way it needs to be fixed, the rubber banding is intense!

i dont get rubber banding but then again i live about 5-10 kms from the server.
i was sitting in a shopping mall up-stairs eating area by myself crying while trying to eat this ****, people were looking...it was embarrasing

Dunno, Honestly ive had no issues rumming it. Both on my lapt top and my main desktop.

 

The maps layed out well and the flags are fun to fight over, Locally I have no rubber banding issues which leads me to think its a server side issue.

But why would one have such intense rubber banding on this map and not others?

I've asked the whole team and they all notice it, how can it be a server side issue when it is not felt on such maps like Fools Road, Iron eagle (similar size) etc.

It isnt a map "bug". It is just the size and complexity of the map which affects both the players and the server. BF2's engine is being pushed to it's limits with maps of that size and complexity

It's a gorgeous map that seems to be designed well but appears that it's either on the brink or just over the limit of what can be run in bf2.

 

Last night with <40 people in the server it was still a bit laggy :(

The rubber banding issue seems to be a problem with the BigD server. Haven't seen it reported from any other server, nor have I encountered it when playing on other servers. I temporarily disabled battlerecorder on server 2 just now to see if that helps alleviate the issue, please report the results.

It used to happen a lot on Quinling (ie - Really bad when you first start then slowly alleviates during the round for me anyway).

Time to stop buying drinks with little umbrellas and make sure it goes to fixing these issues.

The Rubber Banding is annoying but the thing that annoys me is the crashing as it is a great map but the crashing just sadly ruins it but if it can be fixed it will be a great map.

Well, as I go to open up PR 0.966 and give it a test ....it appears it does not want to run at all. It freezes at the initial PR loading screen.

 

Anyone else get this?

donations go to server running costs, not upgrades, unless more people start donating :hint:

From what I've heard upgrades aren't the problem, it's bandwidth.

Shija seems to be pretty tough on the computer but I found the slowdown and mini-freezes I was getting went away after a few minutes of play.

Ok the R-DEV AFsoccer has said he will look into this and work on a solution.

 

good news!

 

But the performance of the Bigd server also plays apart, I also understand it can be expensive to upgrade etc.
