Just recently I was banned for a month on the BigD PR Servers for teamkilling. The reason was that I teamkilled two people just as the 'Round ending' notification popped up. Here's a vid of it:

This game was a game the insurgents had lost, and most people who had just spawned at main were running around discharging their rifles. So, about half a second before the match ended I shot two team mates.

 

Now, what I want to know is what you all think about this situation. Do I deserve this month ban?

 

I, and a few others I've asked, do not think so. For something that should upset no one (who is in their right mind) is not worthy of such a harsh punishment, or so I think.

 

I already know what the admins think of this, (obviously) but now I am asking the community of their opinions, for I am very curious.

 

Is it okay to TK just before a round ends?

Nope.

Its your third TK ban, lucky its not a perma ban.

Team killing - Any team kill should be followed by an apology immediately. It is the nature of this game for accidents to happen. Be aware of your surroundings and learn to distinguish between friend and foe. Intentional team killers are viewed very poorly and will result in a kick or most likely a ban.

I understand that, Bahlye. I interpreted the Team killing rule to only apply to team kills that interrupt game play. I never thought that doing something that doesn't matter half a second later would apply to the rule.

 

My first ban was because I wasn't used to the strictness of PR, because I was new. The second one was entirely my fault, I should have ignored the troll. And this third one is something I never thought would upset anyone. What I'm trying to say is that I don't intend for people to get upset, I'm not a mean person. My intentions are not malicious.

You don't. It won't have any bearing on what the HAs think anyway. Probably best to jump on TS and talk to a HA if you have a real issue. Poll = pissing into the wind

Like I said in your ban appeal. Respect is a two way street - hopefully the time away from our servers will give you an appreciation for our servers, community and admins which you have lacked prior to this moment.

 

But I'll humour you... what wording do you want changed?

'No TKs' - a black & white rule - is a necessary rule for 'tard control'. If you can't have fun by not TK'ing then you're doing it wrong, or playing the wrong game.

Defected Monkey, I have played many times on the server,and seen some pretty unimpressive behaviour,not all of them concerning tk's[but include them as well]....Sometimes enough for me to get off the server and remind myself for all the tardish behaviour,there are a MAJORITY who play fair and treat each other with respect...Hence the only reason I keep coming back for more:those amazing rounds where the squad works well and the moments are priceless....Enough with the self justification for tk's please...and if you cant help yourself,there's always Vanilla,where there is a majority of tker's, tards etc....When the server has admin's like Bahlye and others enforcing the rules[while playing mind you] it keeps Order..Which means sensible team play with a modicum of maturity[which means MUCH less tard's]..i.e the way PR is MEANT.Take it from me my friend,play and enjoy within the given structure,rules etc and you end up having much more fun anyways[that's the point].Leave it alone,let it lay.

I have thought about this last-second TK business, and I do agree that it's not okay.

 

I just think that a warning followed by a ban should be how to deal with someone who TKs right before a round ends, only because they do it just for the hell of it rather than with the intention to upset people and interrupt the game.

 

Even if you'd just warned me, or someone else ingame had asked me to stop, I would have. You don't go yelling at a child who has done something wrong but doesn't know they have, do you? So why do it to me? Just food for thought.

And frankly, you may not care what the Admins think, but I do. They fulfil a voluntary role, which is often thankless, and need to play Police, Judge, Jury and Executioner in short order. Perhaps you need to re-think your involvement in PR if you think otherwise.

 

There is a place for team killing, (in my opinion) when a squad member is being a complete pratt and has either ignored orders or behaved in a way deemed obnoxious by the squad / team. Early in my time as a SL this happened.

 

By this stage though, I should have kicked the person from my squad under normal circumstances, and / or requested their banning by an admin.

 

Mate when you're off ban, join my squad any time. You haven't done wrong by me. I've batted on your behalf with Admins (ASK Sandy). Just think about the spirit of the community.

You see, people. You're interpreting that I ENJOY teamkilling. That's why I wanted the 'It's okay to TK' poll changed. I only did it because "Why the hell not? Round ends in literally one second, why not?". I would have absolutely NO trouble resisting a TK.

 

And Salt, what makes you think I don't care what the admins say? I think they're a very important part of the BigD server, it's just that I'm questioning their decision to ban me on this one time. That's all. :|

First intentional TK - 48 hrs

Second - a week

Third (which is where you are now )- a month

Fourth - perma ban

Fifth - there is no Fifth

I know it's technically against the rules, but I'm trying to find out why you think it harms anyone? I know not to ever do it again, but I still want to know.

Oh that's right - you only started to question it when you realised there were consequences.

 

Here are the three actions which saw you in this position - so I don't give any credibility to the argument you don't know why you were banned. We have made it painfully obvious to you each time you were previously banned that your behaviors are not acceptable...... so why try and defend them?

I knew there would be consequences, I just was expecting 2 days, or a week. Not a month. Also, what do you mean by comparing me to a rabid dog, I don't quite understand. And I'm not trying to defend my previous bans, I know I deserved them. I'm just stating my reasons for doing what I did.

 

I shouldn't have been messing around with Aussie in the first one, and I should have controlled myself in the second one.

I see how you could have confused me standing inside the TOW emplacement as me trying to get him to TK me, but if I wanted that to happen, I would have been following around where he was pointing. I was merely standing there looking at him, not knowing what else to do. My orders were to sit on that TOW.

It's such and easy rule, the easiest of all rules in-fact. Accidents happen, but what you were doing is just f***ing idiotic. Stop trying to defend yourself and pull your head in.

I just don't understand why it upsets them. I'm not trying to justify myself, I'm just explaining the reasons of why I did it at the time.
