Yeah unless you can get the core i7-950 cheap, instead I'd go:

Core i5 2500K CPU or consider a 2600K if you need the CPU power.

8gb DDR3 Dual channel ram

Z68 Gigabyte Mobo

everything else you've got there..

consider

1) a SSD - they are getting within 'affordable' gaming luxury range IMO. OCZ Vertex 2 are good, but lots out there.

2) get a good mouse, keyboard & speakers - Apart from a good monitor, these are your interface with your game. Money well spent here vs many other minor upgrades.

Its build off a set bundle from the store, which was $1499 (including some extra's) which had most of that stuff already in it, i just really wanted a better graphics card ($750), case ($175) and power supply ($185). The bundle also includes the charge for them to build it for me and shipping, which i dont mind paying for which makes it seem abit pricey.

Upon further inquiries they have a 2600 in another bundle so ill change a couple things around and see what the price is then but i feel like ive pinpointed what suits what i wanted

What no AMD?

cmon.....

why would you mate ? clearly you havnt the processing power to even create a Sig so intel all the way :fans: jks,

nice buy mate however i agree wit Wok as 2500k is the way to go and Z68 is very good to.

What Jerrif posted up looks very good.

No point gettin a 2600k over the 2500k unless you are doing lots of encoding work. Gaming the difference is barley noticed. If you need to make it cheaper you could change the video card to a GTX570, they are considerably cheaper while still giving 90% the performance of a 580 at 1900x1080.

I would suggest changing the SSD to an Intel 320 series, as they are very, very reliable and have a 5 year warranty. You could/should also look at adding an aftermarket cpu cooler so you can overclock the 2500k, would suggest a Cosair "water" unit like an H70.

From what I've heard, the H70 is not worth the money. Antec's Kuhler ones are two thirds of the price and are benchmarked higher than the H70. If it were me, I would go for a high end air cooler, like the Prolimatech Megalahems.

The only problem with this benchmark, is that it doesn't include the Hydro series corsair coolers.

this is what i just got cost me less then 2000... but i didnt need a monitor or keyboard/mouse

CPU: i7 2600k

MBoard: GA-Z68X-UD3RB3

Video: HD6850

RAM: 8g dual channel

HDD1: OCZ AGILITY 60gb SSD

HDD2: 2.2TB

CASE: Fractal Design Define R3 Black

PSU: 750W

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12P-SE2

+ Blu Ray/dvd r/w

wanted the 6950 instead of 6850 but price wise i needed to keep it under that 2000.
