Infringement Stories

Don't think there's a thread for this, but if you have a story about getting a fine you think is worth mentioning post it here.

This is something that just happened to me:

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk20/pogoman979/image3.jpg

Got done at 1am driving along reid hwy just as the speed limit changed from 90km-60km (you can see the sign next to the car), i only just saw the sign (it was pitch black) and started slowing down, and got flashed doing 85km and so 25km over == $300 fine and 3 demerits :/. There were no other cars on the road and i've never had an infringement before. Hit me pretty hard because i never usually speed and would've slowed down sooner had it been daytime and i'd seen the bloody sign (also wasn't exactly expecting a camera at 1am lol).

I got done $170.00 for having my feet on a seat on a train. A mate and myself were the only ones of the whole carriage and both had tickets.

That didn't stop them from slapping some fines around.

That was when Connex was on the verge of financial collapse and were desperate. I took my revenge, I wont incriminate my self but lets just say I got my $170.00 dollers worth.:shadeslook:

Yeah had something similar to me on Alexander Drv in an area i was unfamiliar with, speed limit changed from 70-60. Sign was around a blind bend with a tree branch blocking it, camera was straight after the sign too.

Have also seen a few cameras setup with the "you've passed a camera" sign placed behind objects and pointed ACROSS the road, not down it so they aren't visible until your almost parallel to them.

I've also had a parking fine issued while in a zone where you normally have a time limit except on weekends . . . i'd parked there during the weekend so there wasn't a time limit, yet i got a fine anyway /o:

[edit] - also, received a speeding fine coming down the Brand Hwy, was stuck behind a 4x4 towing a mamoth boat doing 75-80kph in a 110 zone. Started to accelerate to overtake once some oncoming traffic had passed when i noticed one of the cars was an unmarked Police car. Slowed down, checked rearview mirror and noticed his brakes came on and the hand stick a light on the roof. Went round a corner so pulled over. Cop car shot past me like a mad man before slamming his brakes on, drove up and parked behind him on the road shoulder. Didn't think at the time to say "was about to overtake the boat".

Prolly wouldn't have done me anygood anyhow as I heard on the radio a few days later that the speed limit is exactly that, Police say that if you overtake someone you can only do so at the speed limit, so if you overtake someone whose doing 85 in a 90 zone, you can only do 90 to pass em . . . seems a bit Irish to me as you're on the opposit side of the road for a helluva lot of time if you do that which is highly unsafe imo.

You're exactly right Mcdeth, would have to be one of the stupider rules out there.

My mate got a $100 fine for buying a zone 1 ticket for the train when he should have had a zone 2, which is like a $1~ difference.

yeah transperth love their fines, i've been done by them for the above reason and for buying a student ticket without my smartrider (learning the hard way that a student card apparently doesn't prove you're a student). Funnily enough i've never been done for just not having a ticket. If you don't have a ticket and you see them checking, you just move down the train and get off asap. You get done when you think you've done the right thing so you let them check and they get you on a technicality.

PM you pogo...enjoi!!! and if you get off, donate 20$ to bigD ;)

with the bike lanes thing is there not a law in nyc for wearing a helmet? Because if so he's not helping the cause by not wearing one lol

Although you have a reason to be speeding when your overtaking, its still as dangerous as normal speeding.

you are right to a degree, but i'd say you should only ever overtake when safe to do so and minimise the time in the other lane. thats not to say you should be hitting 180+ when overtaking, hell i'd be lucky if i ever got close to 130 myself. even better, only use overtaking lanes if they are there, unfortunately down south they are few n far between and the ones that are there only ever seem to run for about 100m (or feels like that anyway) /o:

similar situation to me long time ago, however i did get out of it. i bought a ticket with what cash i had on me (2 section ticket, needed to buy a 1 zone) as i thought its better to pay something rather that have a freebie.

told them my reasoning and they were still going to give me a ticket for that when i noticed the other guard didn't say anything to someone who said they didn't have a ticket and moved on. asked the guard in front of me to explain why it was that if they didn't get a ticket for not having a one then how come i was getting one for at least buying something? the guard just closed his book as they knew they'd have more trouble trying to give that other person a ticket.

Well... I probably shouldn't have a license the way I drive... according to the nanny statesmen in blue at least. I love my german cars and 110km/h is to damn slow. While I had a little black beemer last year I got zoomed past 3 or so roadside camera vans at 120-125km/h but never got a ticket. Quite fortunate :)

copper probably figured you couldn't afford the fines for seatbelts lol. my mate got pulled over when he was wearing a seatbelt but his three mates in the back weren't, the copper just gave him a warning because he was a uni student and the fine would've been over $1000.

a mate of my father-in-law told us that a few months ago in Lismore that a couple of guys stole the number plates of a cop car & put them on another car & drove it through a speed camera multiple dozens of times.Apparently they have not been caught & the cops are keeping it quiet!! no wonder!!!

I've got a few mates who have around 4-5 Grand's worth of fines. Train ticket fines and a lot of tickets for being a pain in public, whatever.....

What they do is they wait a few years for it to build up and then get a thing called a payment plan, where you can pay something like 20 dollars a month for how ever many years.

They'll sit on the train, I'll see a ticket inspector and let them know.

"Look theres a ticket inspector up there, should probably get off eh?"

"Nah don't worry about it, I'll just tell em' to chuck it on me' tab, hehe"..

And so they do.

They realise fines can eventually be replaced with jail time... right?

Last time i got pulled over was for doing 193kph in 100kph zone, must have been my lucky day because he liked imports and it was in the middle nowhere in SA near robe, anyway after chatting for a while he let me off,:guitar:

Lucky it wasnt a few minutes sooner as i was doing about 260kph

Yeah, that doesn't happen. It "can" but it doesn't.

got pulled over last Thursday doing 108km/h in what is to me on my red p's a 90 zone (110km/h for normal people). turned off my fully sick car (its not lebo cool, its actually dieing) as soon as i was pulled over because for all intents and purposes my exhaust ends after my catalytic converter, so it is very loud. thought "here we go, time to take it up the A$%#$#", i am currently on a 2 year good behavior bond (not automotive related) so i would cop it pretty bad, but the cop just breath tested me, tells me i should be doing 90km/h then lets me go.

have since ordered a new exhaust, but i still do over 90km/h on the freeway as its dangerous to do less, and all but this copper i've seen have ignored little old red p plater in a beat up wagon sitting on 105km/h in the left hand lane (not holding up traffic).

This is where I like New Zealand's law, if you are over the age of 18, it's the passengers responsibility to put on their seat belts so they will get the fine, not the driver =D.

^^ this i like
