Posted June 8, 201113 yr Anyone catching this HBO series? Season 1 is out in the US with season 2 being made. It's an adaptation of the awesomely gritty and dark fantasy novel in George RR Martin's 'Song of Fire and Ice series'. Official site: http://www.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/index.html Good review of it here: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/game-thrones-review-174120 I'm loving it so far. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
June 8, 201113 yr I've seen alot of people get spoiled because book readers can't keep their mouths shut. If you haven't read the books don't read any threads or google it because it will happen. That said the series has been freaken awesome. About the latest ep: "Khal Drogo ripping out a dude's tongue through his throat HOLY **************". After this season finishes in 2 episodes it's going to be a long wait for season 2 http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p198/firehawk88/siggg-1.png Jack In Kick Ass
June 8, 201113 yr Yeah, I'm finding myself A Download of it now, I think I've just found my next few days of 'What to watch' though now. Sean Bean is an awesome Actor, and from what I'm reading, it sounds awesome. "...And so then I says! 'I caught me a kangaroo!'" For some reason the Yanks love hearing about that one time... http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/supportspecialist.bmp Hey! Great Idea Lads! Lets play by the Geneva Rules AND NOT SHOOT THE PRISONER FOR A CHANGE!!!
June 8, 201113 yr yeah i've been watching it from the get go just because of sean bean (he's the dude that played boromir in lotr right?). Pretty good although i do wish they'd speed up the pace a little bit, i can't wait for when the white walkers start terrorizing everyone.
June 8, 201113 yr =o I think I'm going to have to get the series as well, I've read all the books except the latest one, hope that doesn't make the series disappointing though =(.
June 8, 201113 yr Just looked up a trailer of it on youtube and it looks awesome. Also the 9.5 rating on imdb.com convinced me to start downloading it. http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6793/trentsport.png
June 8, 201113 yr yup, awesome show, i have a feeling season 2 is where the action is at! bring on the darkness of winter!........ oooooooh :scare2: hell of a ramp up for Skyrim lol!!!! :(When swimming in sh!t, best keep your chin up! http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii300/3D_Gimp/bDSig2014_zpsbfe88bfb.png
June 8, 201113 yr Author Yeah the books carry the story way beyond this TV series, though I'll not say more for fear of spoiling. The brutality of the books seems to suit the typical HBO potty-mouthed smut and violence content. 10x55min episodes for one novel compares well with LOTR, ~12hrs for three books. When ppl talk about how good Harry Potter is, I just think about current 'adult' fantasy book series like this one and laugh a book-snobbish guffaw or two. Harry Potter's got nuthin' on these guys. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
June 8, 201113 yr Looks alright, not a big fan of the fantasy culture I must say - but I'll give it a go if I can remember to DL. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
June 8, 201113 yr yeah i've been watching it from the get go just because of sean bean (he's the dude that played boromir in lotr right?). as well as playing 'Andy McNab' in Bravo Two Zero and the bad dude from Patriot Games. awesome actor imo, has that grittiness you can see from a medieval bad mofo whipping up some madness with a claymore! Been looking for a good fantasy novel series to get into, take it this is a good one? There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
June 8, 201113 yr I dunno if it is your age McDeth, but have you read Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr? There's a fourth coming out this year and I really enjoy them (1 of the only fantasy series I've enjoyed). http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
June 8, 201113 yr Also if people like brutal historical novels, I encourage you to check out the Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell. They centre around a Danish warlord during the period of Alfred the Great in Briton. I have loved every book so far, very addictive reading.
June 8, 201113 yr Author Been looking for a good fantasy novel series to get into, take it this is a good one? If it's proper adult fantasy you're after, try George RR Martin 'Song of fire and ice', Joe Abercombie's books (he has five books, all awesome) or try to get through the first 11 Robert Jordan Books in the 'Wheel of time' series - the 12th & 13th books are well worth it, if you do . For younger/starters/intro level readers, I recommend Raymond E. Feist's 'Magician'. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png

There's a fourth coming out this year and I really enjoy them (1 of the only fantasy series I've enjoyed). Nope, I've read LoTR, The Hobbit, Silmarilion(speeling?) which was hard work! Diablo Archive and all 5 books of The Pendragon Cycle. Mostly into Sci-Fi atm as my main fiction authors are boring me. Still am always up for some decent fantasy. There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
June 8, 201113 yr Well here's the website if you want to have a look. They're all quite massive books (~900 pages IIRC) but they are bloody awesome. The bloke was 15 when he made the first draft for Eragon, so you might find it a bit youngish for you. But man o man, they're just about my favourite books. http://www.alagaesia.com/index.php Edited June 8, 201113 yr by BaseJump http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
June 8, 201113 yr Hobbit is good, looking forward to the movie. yeh +1 xavo, bough eragon when it came out for my bro, he didn't like it (he's more into ender's game) so i read it. veryyy good, read the second and on a holiday in venitzia i bought the 3'rd (eldest) there in Venice, english and hard back yay!! had to limit myself to 50 pages per night so i wouldn't finish it too quick on holiday, VERY GOOD. I like the size, lots of fun reading 3k pages Where to mate' It's been a while...
June 8, 201113 yr yep, i've been following as well...I had been watching Camelot also, but GoT has it all over that. Camelot particularly sucks because of the dude who plays Arthur - I think I would like it a lot more if not for him. Anyway, I digress...

June 8, 201113 yr Feist's books are epic, I has pretty much all of them. Not quite as brutal as Song of fire and ice but his vision of classic fantasy, storytelling and imagination is unsurpassed IMHO. Also there is like 20+ books all based in the same universe so each different series still ties into the others either from different points of view or at different points in time. It's like a 20+ book long series. Truly epic. Sorry for the digression, I'm a bit of a fanboi lol. Gagh when does ep 8 of GoT come out???
June 9, 201113 yr available Monday nights..... :ninja: :(When swimming in sh!t, best keep your chin up! http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii300/3D_Gimp/bDSig2014_zpsbfe88bfb.png
June 9, 201113 yr Also if people like brutal historical novels, I encourage you to check out the Saxon Stories by Bernard Cornwell. They centre around a Danish warlord during the period of Alfred the Great in Briton. I have loved every book so far, very addictive reading. And if you like that then read the Sharpe series. It's about a rifleman during the Napoleonic wars which is also written by Bernard Cornwell. As it happens, Sean Bean plays the rifleman in the TV series adaptation of the books. Pretty much all of his novels are pretty good come to think of it. nedlands1 [WC] Specialist (Combat Engineer) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/52/US_Army_E-4_SPC.svg/50px-US_Army_E-4_SPC.svg.png [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

June 20, 201113 yr Author Yep... they have started filming season 2 apparently - should be out in 6-8 months then They've done a good job of being true to the book. Book 5 out very soon. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
April 5, 201213 yr Author Anybody watching the second series? Top show, that! Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
