All right, here's the deal.

I've been having this problem for a while and I want something done about it. I've googled and googled, with no success.

As I'm playing PR, I randomly freeze. My pc freezes, everything freezes requiring manual reboot. This happens very regularly and it PISSES ME OFF.

 

Anyone same problem or fix? I had this problem yesterday, I reformatted today and the problem is still there. Sometimes, on some installation of the game/windows it's fine and sometimes it's not.

Please halp.

And only when I play PR, not sure about vanilla, don't think it happens in vanilla and only in MP PR, in coop PR it doesn't happen.

If I was to disable my sound drivers though, what am I going to use for sound? I would definitely have to get a sound card then right?

Most probably yes. Unless you can find a way to bodge it up.

Taters, did you fix your problem?

 

I dl'd 0.966 after reading all the reviews and have had a freeze every night so far after about 20 minutes of play or so.

Total lock-up, a loud, momentary crackling/piercing noise through the headphones and then the game is frozen on the screen. CTRL/ALT/DEL to task managaer is the only way out for me and then a reboot to clear the problem.

Strange associated issue is that Firefox will not load up after this happens (before the reboot). I tried to search the issue but it comes up with the FF 'Well, this is embarrassing' warning window.

This ONLY happens in PR. iirc, I had a similar issue last time I played PR for a while a couple of updates back too...

specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 965

4Gb DDR3

Asrock Deluxe4 MB

HD4870 GPU

All other games run at medium/full graphix settings with ease.

Based on this from psy, perhaps I try switching from HD sound to standard or something?

 

Anyone else have any issues like this one? It is damned annoying having to restart and respawn back to my squad when things were just getting interesting!

Well I bought a new sound card and still have problem with new software, and yes I'm still experiencing the crash problem tho I have only crashed nice in 0.966 and that was on shijia valley.

 

I'll keep everyone posted as to what's going on.

I think Shijia Valley is a problem for some (most) people.
