Ok this is a strange one. I load PR as normal pick the server to load into. It loads the map. When I get the map and kit pick on the left the mouse stops working and so does the keyboard. The mouse will still move on the map load up screen then stops when I get to pick a kit and a squad...

Hrmm - that sounds like a likely candidate for suspicion then ? Try

removing them, returning to a state b4 they were made or something...

if the mouse is implicated in the symptoms it may well be one of the

causes ?

Have deleted them now and will wait until the registry program has finished and will load PR again.

um glary utilities does computer maintenance including registry

 

using wirless mouse , keyboard could be you bumped the receiver and loosing packets (i had that problem and it only happened in pr) or batteries are getting old

mouse and keyboard are USB. Still trying to sort this out.

Have restored to another time and date and now I have two black screens with no windows but the mouse works. It will not even start in safe mode???

also make sure in the USB root hub that you have the " allow this device to sleep" unticked

got it to start in safe mode now trying to get a restore point that works or installs properly.

Error (0x8000ffff) on a system restore.... I think i am in for a long night.

Ive had this problem multiple times and this is the solution

I wish to thank Ancientman and Crazy_Whitey that worked. But the original problem is I think something to do with windows update. I had shut the PC down at about 2pm and it was installing another update, and things went south from there. This happened a few weeks ago as well but that time both monitors were playing up something stupid.

It occurs when controls.con gets messed up, either through using the debugger which you wouldn't be using, or some problem with pr.exe not correctly parsing the file and replacing it with garbage.

 

You could've probably also fixed it by resetting your controls back to default, but deleting and retrieving your profile is the failsafe option.
