Terraria

Ok, so this little indie number from the Steam store for 10$ AUD is essentially what minecraft would be if it were a 2D sidescroller, yet in my honest oppinion, it has quite a bit more entertainment value than it's Java script based 3D brother.

Dig, fight, explore, build! Nothing is impossible in this action-packed adventure game. The world is your canvas and the ground itself is your paint. Grab your tools and go! You can do many things in Terraria: make weapons and fight off a variety of enemies in numerous biomes, dig deep underground to find accessories, money, and other useful things, gather wood, stone, ores, and other resources to create everything you need to make the world your own and defend it. Build a house, a fort, even a castle, and people will move in to live there and perhaps even sell you different wares to assist you on your journey. But beware, there are even more challenges awaiting you... Are you up to the task?

So Any of the other BigD Boys got this catchy darn game?

"...And so then I says! 'I caught me a kangaroo!'"

For some reason the Yanks love hearing about that one time...

Sure do. Haven't found it alot of fun in singleplayer, But I do not find singleplayer lot of fun for most types of games myself. I've been looking for someone to co op with so just add me to steam if you wanna play " pythonseb ". Oh I would also more describe as minecraft meet RPG because its more or less a character builder than it is making stuff( from what I can tell anyway im not that far in ). But in that sense there more mobs there is boss mobs and NPCs and stuff like that.

Well basically we're fighting a native people who was overthrown by our imperialistic government which is situated elsewhere. Our nation's desire is to maintain these various underlying colonies. In particular this form of state has multiple resistance factions which ultimately fights for an independent sovereign nation. Meanwhile we fight to eliminate their unruly resistance to our suppressive discriminatory government. Therefor and thusly, we are all stuck, in a giant, Team Deathmatch.

Minecraft didn't interest me at all, not when the game revolves around essentially making levels. Though this game has my attention. Once uni calms down a bit you can count me in!

This game is fun, it is more focused on fighting monster rather than building. Although you will need to build houses so that merchants etc will move in, so you can buy better weapon and tools to fight.

Some randoms events like the blood moons will cause truck load more monsters to spawn at night, making fight for survival during the night.

It is a time sink though so just make sure keep an eye on the time :D.

This game is what minecraft should have added rather than just a crafting aspect, if your more of a journeyman than a crafter Terraria is for you

I saw this on steam the other day, and for $10, its not that bad... if you enjoy 2D side scrollers...

Minecraft is still in Beta, this is a fully released game... nothing to say that Minecraft wouldn't have it when it gets released.

yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't. Its exactly like knowing about the stuff you dont know about, that way you know theres stuff you dont know so when you know what you dont know you can say "ah i knew that!"[/quote']

Either way nothing has been released to include such things for journeymen bar the new maps in 1.6

I host one when I find it convienient, not public (Hamachi) but if you add me on Steam or something, I'm a big Terraria fan so we can get something going! :D
I've been hosting a game with my mates for a few weeks. We've made quite the world for ourselves! I've even bought a new modem so that I can host more clients stably :) Over the next month while uni's off i'll be up for more games!
