Hello BigD community.

 

Recently I have been jumping on the server around 12 in the arfternoon when the server is empy and I have been trying to start it up. Sometimes I get a few people in but they usually leave just before some more people join in.

 

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas/suggestions to encourage more people to do the same in trying to help populate the servers at this time and in other dead times.

 

Personally I join in the server, go on msn or something and wait for a few people to join in on the server and everynow and then i go into game and move around so I don't get kicked. Normally this works and a few people join up but by the time they get bored and leave more people seem to join.

 

It would be good if we got a small percentage of the community who are at home during these hours to start playing during the day.

 

EDIT: There is now a training server up and after searching through the forums I found a link on where to download the map, I'm going to put it up here so it is easier to find.

The issue is alot of people are either at work / school / uni at that time.

 

Im actually in class myself. =s

The Obvious problem being that The Majority of the Comuntiy are Students or At work during the day, hence, unable to join in. I myself Busy myself Job seeking during the daylight hours, and doing stuff around the home to keep this fortress in working order and tidy.

 

Unfortunatly, while I'm sure alot of us would jump at the chance, we've simply got other things that NEED doing.

 

It's a good idea, but I'm sure the majority of the community are saying it simply, Busy.

Yeah thats definately the key factor but there is normally around 10-20 people surfing the forums at these hours and I'm wondering how many of them arent at work /school / uni.

Most people are at work or school during these times. Others like myself CBF playing PR so early with so few people.

normally, studying/working/looking after 'pint sized terrorists' and just have the Mac on to check stuff out every now n then.

Yes maybe but I think its still on topic in this section on the forums. If an admin feels that way then they can move it to that section of the forums.

Those who post on the forum during the day are most likely doing so from work or uni. The reality is most of us work or study full time.

I wouldn't say that. You now know why people aren't on during the day and some guys have suggested some other options for you to pass the time until everyone comes online. Good thread +1

no but when I play i fell like a one man band

You need to find the balance between dumb bots and sup3r l337 hax0r bots.....for me I just leave it low and carrying on massacaring....

+1 for the co-op server. Perhaps we could beta a co-op server and see how it goes.

 

There was also another suggestion for a training map. That sounds kind of interesting, I wonder how that would go.

Yes but the training map requires everyone to download. I think that coz co-op is considered as training just switch S1 over and see.

We've had Coop and we've had training in the past. Eventually, like all server changes, they get less and less popular. just saying.

If you can you should put keep as is so you if people are really interested

IMO only. Not a fan of either option - I think Vapo summed it up pretty well in another thread.

 

Both these modes have been trialled in the past and they are guaranteed to bring the worst out in people - and let me tell you the admins have enough work reviewing BR files of all the idiots on the 'mature' and 'teamwork' server as it is.

I have taken that into consideration but on another post someone mentioned a server password that is handed out on the forums. However, ultimately it is yours and the other admins decision and I understand that.

Anyhow thumbsup for putting up suggestions - and I'm more than happy to give something else another try if that's what people want. But please don't expect the admins to be a referee for disputes on a server where the gamemode has been proven in the past to fail teamwork and maturity - they do enough

 

I'll also edit the poll to put on skirmish layers - think somebody also suggested that in one of the multitude of threads recently started about server rotations.....
