Amature camera

Amateur Camera *Dat spelling*

So guys, I'm possibly in the market for a cheap camera that doesn't make Pictures look like a dogs testicles. (I put it as nicely as I could)

I've never been a camera whizz, I know nothing of them but wanted to buy something somewhat decent for about $400-500. (TBH anything about $300 would be ideal, but I can wait and save if need be.)

Keep in mind that this is just as a personal hobby.

So my minions, suggest away!!

Geez I'll bet you can get one for <300 these days - we have a little Canon Ixus 950 - depends on the quality you are chasing though.

I more or less want something somewhat better than your average household digital cam. The Powershot S95 seems to be the go at the moment though.

This camera is great and very cheap!

i used it all the way through my studio arts folio, and it worked a treat

i have a cannon 500D now cost me $970 but worth $1300

The thing to remember is a good camera can last u a life time, in specs and all, so it might be worth paying that bit more e.g 800-1200

Buy something second hand. Canon G10 is a pretty decent camera. Same with the Nikon P5000. Buying new just decreases your buying power - so long as it hasn't been completely shagged you should be able to get away with it although you might need to buy a new battery perhaps.

This can get you a cheap camera, however you have to be really really careful with this, ebay is not the best idea

Just an update.

Won a lightly used Canon 450D with 2 lenses, the default 18-55mm and an extra 55-250mm lens. :D

All for $660, normally retails for quite a lot more.

I'm somewhat estatic..

If only it could arrive before friday so that I could take photographs of my sisters horse show..

*edit* The typo in the topic is still giving me the rages..
