Posted May 2, 201114 yr Amateur Camera *Dat spelling* So guys, I'm possibly in the market for a cheap camera that doesn't make Pictures look like a dogs testicles. (I put it as nicely as I could) I've never been a camera whizz, I know nothing of them but wanted to buy something somewhat decent for about $400-500. (TBH anything about $300 would be ideal, but I can wait and save if need be.) Keep in mind that this is just as a personal hobby. So my minions, suggest away!! May 3, 201114 yr It really depends on what you are after in terms of size and features, but i think the Canon PowerShot S95 is the best point and click cam out at the moment. http://www.dpreview.com/products/canon/compacts/canon_s95 http://www.dpreview.com/news/1010/10100405canons95gallery.asp
May 3, 201114 yr Geez I'll bet you can get one for <300 these days - we have a little Canon Ixus 950 - depends on the quality you are chasing though.
May 3, 201114 yr Author I more or less want something somewhat better than your average household digital cam. The Powershot S95 seems to be the go at the moment though. http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
May 3, 201114 yr This camera is great and very cheap! i used it all the way through my studio arts folio, and it worked a treat i have a cannon 500D now cost me $970 but worth $1300 The thing to remember is a good camera can last u a life time, in specs and all, so it might be worth paying that bit more e.g 800-1200 http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod6666.htm
May 3, 201114 yr Buy something second hand. Canon G10 is a pretty decent camera. Same with the Nikon P5000. Buying new just decreases your buying power - so long as it hasn't been completely shagged you should be able to get away with it although you might need to buy a new battery perhaps. http://i.imgur.com/E1qdM.png

This can get you a cheap camera, however you have to be really really careful with this, ebay is not the best idea
May 3, 201114 yr Author Second hand might be the go If i want to get something quality for my low price range. Any recommended selling sites? I don't trust ebay for anything over $100... http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png

May 11, 201114 yr Author Just an update. Won a lightly used Canon 450D with 2 lenses, the default 18-55mm and an extra 55-250mm lens. All for $660, normally retails for quite a lot more. I'm somewhat estatic.. If only it could arrive before friday so that I could take photographs of my sisters horse show.. *edit* The typo in the topic is still giving me the rages.. http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
