For those that are not aware, today is Kapyong day which is the anniversary of the battle of Kapyong in Korea 1951 which is a pretty big deal for 3RAR.

Im having trouble understanding this from that wiki article, but was wondering, is this the battle which the Aussies took 3 hills or something from the Chinese by battling up a ridge-line or something? I'm not to sure, I just remember seeing something about it in the War Memorial a while ago and can never remember what it was called...

Read it chan lol, the chinese where on the attack, the aussies and the canadians where put as a blocking force on two hills as the south koreans withdrew as they couldnt hold the ground. We had a battalion strength force while the chinese had a entire division.

I think you mean the battle of of Maryang San. Also a battle honour of 3RAR.

The battle was so successful that it is taught as a textbook scenario at officer academies all over the world including RMC and West Point.
