BF2 not working....

I haven't played for a while had some time up my sleeve and thought i'd jump in last night!

Low an behold bf2 wont start at all... PR or vbf2!?!?!

frustrated i got drunk played some poker, and PS3 instead.

this morning i thought i'd try to see what the go was and seems rather strange.

Recently i acquired a free 22" LED LCD TV, im using it as my Laptop monitor. I have my laptop connected through HDMI cable.

the strange thing is i can load up bf2/PR on the laptop no worries. but as soon as i plug the HDMI in and have it run through the TV it doesn't start.

When i say doesn't start i mean totally doesn't start. the PR windows load screen pops up then disappears and screen goes black, looking like its loading then bump back to windows as nothing had been pressed or happened at all.

Anyone experienced with this or know of a fix???

It's most probibly your video settings. When you have your LED monitor plugged in, go to My Documents>Battlefield 2>Profiles and find the video.con file there. When you open it, look for something like run.resolution 1280 x 900. Change that to what your LED monitor is. Probibly 1680 x 1050 like my 22" monitor.

funny enough i had this problem last week and the other half of it is still on the front page of big d

my story: My monitor died before 1st wc practice match so i was like ill put it onto my 42inch tv all good until it was time to play and it CTD so i found in the pr folder (program files>ea games>battlefield 2>mods>pr) a error log and it was saying something along the lines of aspect ratio could be drawn. ok so got a new monitor. same thing.

goto solution

this part of my story shouldn't be your problem but ill put it in

so all good after that for 1 game then it did work (second unrelated half of my problem) it turned out when i system restored i went past my graphics driver update and the driver was dead (took my ages to find it.) but put the new driver on, a few errors came up but it was all good played 2 days of pr since then and its all good

solution: try what other people say first.

install drivers

if that fails then do what i did.

reinstall.(uninstall everything and go over and delete all battlefield 2 folders eg my docs>battlefield 2. and ea games>battlefield 2. and install bf2 all patches and pr)

i was probably no help hear but at least you know its not the end of the world

hmm i remember seeing how to make bf2/pr run fullscreen widescreen via a desktop shortcut, but for the life of me cannot remember, check the other computer problems in the tech support place, its sure to be around there ssomewhere

Well basically we're fighting a native people who was overthrown by our imperialistic government which is situated elsewhere. Our nation's desire is to maintain these various underlying colonies. In particular this form of state has multiple resistance factions which ultimately fights for an independent sovereign nation. Meanwhile we fight to eliminate their unruly resistance to our suppressive discriminatory government. Therefor and thusly, we are all stuck, in a giant, Team Deathmatch.

YOu havent played for a while ? Is your BF2 up to date. Patch 1.5 ?

All the wide screen fixes are included in 1.5 so there is no need to use short cut commands for that now.

Look for the video .con for your profile and check the res your trying to use as stated prev.

Then try a driver update, then try reinstalling the 1.5 patch and the PR 0.9 installs.

Has always fixed my problems

Good luck.

could be the drivers ...

I know some intel graphics notebook systems do exactly the same thing. A known problem with BF2.

I don't procrastinate. I just like to do things later.

got it too work! easy fix

no driver no uninstall no .con file fix!!

all was needed was load up PR without LCD screen. Reset all the video settings to default. exit. plug TV back in load up. put video settings back to all high and right resolution! hey presto she works!

thanks for the replies fellas. you may now see me in game for a few weeks, b4 I move! :D
