Hmm, whats going on

I turned on the main PC yesterday, one monitor had the "check signal cable" box floating around, the other had "installing registry updates 1 0f 96" on it.

I thought ok thats weird and let it run, came back 10 mins later and the screen that was running had nothing but the cursor on it.

I switched out the GPU to a spare I had, that wasn't the problem, I have reset the Bios, run a disk chk, tried booting from the Win 7 install disk which runs, but I still end up with 1 screen (the main screen) with the check signal and the other just the cursor :(.

I can't start it in safe mode as the arrow keys aren't doing anything its stuck on start windows normally.

Specs-

i7-950

Win 7 pro

X58A-UD3R MB

6 gig ddr3

4890 gpu

750 watt psu.

Everything is plugged in/seated correctly, the PC was fine the day before when I shut it down but now I'm stuck.

Ideas ?

lol what were you doing before you turned it off last time :)

try a ubuntu boot disk just to see if its a windows only problem.

lol yes right clicking on the desktop is way to easy :hi:for the young ones, and they love all the buttons on the screen :)

Yep, This is why when I have kids, if they ever come into the study I will force them to wear oven mitts. =P

After that night I started peeing out the window to avoid going down the hallway when it was dark.
