Hey guys =)

 

I don't know what i have missed/done wrong.

I have my whole computer successfully put together, turns on, I've installed vista, and everything works perfectly, EXCEPT the internet.

I have it plugged into the internet via ethernet cable.

I go to connect to the internet and the following error comes up:

Error 814: The underlying ethernet connectivity required for the broadband connection was not found. Please install and enable the Ethernet adapter on your computer via the Network Connections folder before attempting this connection.

 

 

It also comes up with...

There are drive or hardware problems with the network adapter "Realtek RTL8168/8111 Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" on this computer.

 

can anyone help ?

Try updating the drivers for your network adapter - should be on your mobo installer disk or a seperate one if using a network card

 

Also make sure the lan connections are enabled through the network connections folder in network and sharing centre.

Re-install/rollback/get new drivers for your network adapter.

If your mobo has an ethernet socket, try that

Install motherboard drivers.

Does your modem/router use static ip or DHCP?

Could be something simple as adding the new NIC mac address and static IP route to the modem.

If all things be sweet (after doing whats already been suggested), check it the port is 'winking' at you, if it is it likes you and you should has your netz, if its not it doesn't like you and you cant has your netz.

 

I'd suggest doing what Vapo has suggested also, most of the mobo driver install disks will have the relevant NIC files needed there.

 

Failing that, check the mobo manufacturers site and then Realtek and last resort MS Updates (altho that normally requires a working driver before it will pickup a driver update).

lol, anyways, that particular update has broken everyone of my families computers when installed, if that helps.

how about have you configured you modem with your ISP details?? thats one people forget often lol

If u have uninstall and find the drivers on network cards site

Realtek can cause problems of all kinds - had a recent audio issue

on a friend's laptop - realtek fapped the skype audio totally...

that is - the optional upgrades/updates of software caused problems...

had to uninstall to get functionality back...
