Hi, really looking forward to the team match so got teamspeak installed, followed instructions.

 

What is order of start up?

 

1) Do I first sign into team speak then fire up PR? This seems to work since I hear people thru game.

 

2) Once connected to teamspeak how do I connect to teamspeak server? I get lots connections / disconnections but can't find BigD to connect.

 

3) Once connected How do I get password.

 

4)In game how do u activate switch off? I belive I use a hotkey combo in teamspeak instalation.

 

If this was added to the teamspeak faq it could help other noobs starting out.

 

I know this is all ridiculously easy so please humor me, I really want to be an active mewber of this community and have read the teamspeak faq here so please help. Much appreciated.

well Shady I have mumble too (it is installed with Pr but cant find how to use it? Know any links? Cheers.

All the info on mumble should be in that link I posted before. It can be a bit annoying to set up but its worth it

Shock I definitely think you are getting mumble confused with Teamspeak.

 

Teamspeak is just a talk program, you can speak to each other on the BigD TS Server but it does not have anything to with the communication in-game.

Mumble is the program that you need to start before you join PR.

Mumble allows you to communicate with people that are within 70 Meters of you in-game which most of us use, only a few use TS but a lot more people use Mumble day to day.

It actually only works within 50m, but close poncho.

 

just follow what floyd posted up, and it will get you over the line. very easy steps that i made.

Ok so i double clicked pr mumble which came instalkled with PR 917. Used set up wizard saw thew ball moving artound set the mic. Question is when I Connect in Pr mumble, to what am I connecting? Any server because I cant find BigD for instance. I also get a warning conecting to randoms to the effect that "the host name did not match any of the vaild hosts for this certificate" and 2) the certtificate is self signewd and untrusted. Could someone PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS STEP BY STEP. I'VE LOOKED AT THE PR MUMBLE SITE AND THE LINKS WHICH ONLY EXPLAIN INSTALLATION NOT HOW TO USE IN GAME. tHANKS FOR ANY HELP. Sorry bout caps.

From my recollection, the official PR server is already listed in your "Server Connections" (CTRL+O) under Custom Servers, and all you need to do is put in your username and hit connect.

 

Then just maximize the 'PR-BF2 Game Servers' context, scroll down to bigD 1/2 (Australia) and double click the name, and you'll join that channel.

 

Do not talk until you are in game, even if you can hear other people talking. You are not yet linked to BF2 until you have spawned in on the server

 

I suggest going to your Configure -> Settings -> Shortcuts & add two new ones:

 

- Toggle Mute Self

- Toggle Deafen Self

 

These will allow you to shut up mumble whenever you like.

 

Deafening yourself will mute mumble's input & output, whereas Unmuting yourself will unmute both input & output... however if you toggle deafen self, it will mute both input & output, but only unmute output, meaning you can't speak. The same applies for Mute Self, which will only mute your microphone but will unmute both input & output. A bit confusing but experiment with them and you'll see what I mean.
