So after about 5 hours of trying to fix 2 Ipod touches I've decided to man up and ask for a bit of help

 

I've got a friends and a girl who i've got a crush on (Bonus points ) Ipod touches here both are stuck in restore mode One is 2G and the other is I have no idea.... I've attempted to tinker with apple services, updating downgrading and all the usual crap.

 

Basically every time I try and restore the Ipods I get a 1161 error, after countless youtube videos and punching of my monitor I still can't work out what the fark is going on. I've put them in DFU mode, I have no idea what it is but it doesn't seem to help much either.

 

So If anyone's an apple tech head would you pretty please be able to shed some light on my problem?

I'm not very up to date on the jailbreak sort of things, but would the jailbreak firmware stuff be able to solve the issues?

 

I feel like breaking something at the moment...

Common solutions appear to be

- Try restarting the device (home and sleep buttons down for 10 sec)

- Try quitting your iTunes and change the USB ports and then try again.

Not sure if you have tried DFU mode but that will supposedly fix any issue other than broken hardware.

 

#Beware putting an apple device into DFU mode will set it up as a entirely new device - you CANNOT restore from a backup after doing this.#

Your account has all the apps so you can install them again but your backup that is associated with the device can't be restored onto it (No email, notes, sms's or any app data).

 

If you want to do this:

 

1. Turn on your iPod (in my case it would only get as far as displaying the Apple logo

2. Hold the power and home buttons down (the iPod will power off after 10 seconds, but keep holding those buttons down)

3. After the iPod powers off, release the power button (but keep holding the home button down)

4. After a couple more seconds, you should hear that magical “ding dong” that means the iPod is coming back alive, and that Windows has detected it. 5. You may even see a little “New hardware” popup in Windows. It is now safe to release the home button, and your iPod is in DFU mode.

6. Now iTunes will see it as a DFU’ed iPod and should ask you to automatically restore its firmware. iTunes has to download the new firmware, and it takes a while.

I have had issues with restoring simply because of USB port. It would give me a whole bunch of random errors so I switched it to a port on the back of the PC and it worked, put it back on the front USB ports and fail.

How did you fix it i bought a ipod yesterday, it was jail broken i tryied to restore it and it came up with the error 1611
