Unlike in previous titles, there are three different ways to use the Combat Knife. First, there is a one key-press "Quick-Knife" attack, which is similar in premise to the knife attack in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but requires two hits to kill a target. Secondly, the knife can be equipped as a weapon, similar to Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, and can perform a stab attack to kill in one hit. This will award the player the normal version of their victim's dogtags. Thirdly, it is possible to use it in a melee sequence which consists of grabbing an opponent, stabbing them and throwing them to the floor, taking around 2-3 seconds. This type of attack is a one hit kill, that also rewards the player with a special version of their victim's dogtags. *Videos* Frostbite 2 features [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E31h-PijbeI]YouTube - Battlefield 3 - Frostbite 2 Features[/ame] thunder run Singleplayer gameplay [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UwOrl036_A]YouTube - Battlefield 3: Thunder Run Tank Gameplay Trailer (E3)[/ame] Operation metro Mp trailer [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT_l1nd4zVQ]YouTube - Battlefield 3 - Operation Métro Multiplayer Gameplay[/ame] multiplayer off screens Operation metro [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBIq5QhmyqU]YouTube - NEW Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Hands On Gameplay[/ame] Edited June 30, 201113 yr by Maritius [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
August 1, 201014 yr Shameless money grab for a game that I'm not expecting to be even a fraction as good as the original Battlefield games were/are. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
August 1, 201014 yr If its going to have mod support then its worth it (I hope), but if its going to be a console port it probably wont. Im sure they would get more than enough money for a pc only game though, just look at how many people have played Bf2. Being muliplayer only not many would torrent because you need a key. Most likely situation: EA and DICE look at how well MW2 has done, then they try to clone MW2 and in the process make a bad game. "Eight glorious sides and eight stunning angles!"
August 1, 201014 yr Expectations are very low for this. I suspect so low that I may be surprised when it comes out, but even this is wishful thinking.

Most likely situation: EA and DICE look at how well MW2 has done, then they try to clone MW2 and in the process make a bad game. As quoted from DICE: ""This version of Frostbite just really doesn't support (modding)," Van Dyke explains. "The way our tools are setup for Frostbite currently - this isn't the plan for the future - it's all within a network structure, so we have servers, a network farm, hard drives all over the place, caching systems. For the development team it's not even a realistic thing to try to pretend we could put out. So we just bit the bullet and were honest and were like, 'This is not something we can do with this game.'" So I'm not expecting anything exciting or even slightly interesting from BF3. If I wanted to play MW, I would have bought it. But, I want to play Battlefield not some lame clone of MW. http://www.bigdgaming.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=727&stc=1&d=1296346258 http://www.bigdgaming.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=724&stc=1&d=1296346251

August 1, 201014 yr IE: They made the worst modern game engine to date. Nearly all the other engines support mods in one way or another, and do the bloom and HDR lighting far better. It's only saving grace is the quite beautiful bump mapping... even that's beaten by the cryengine 2... I so wish they would completely scrap it and use something else for BF3. http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/43/gossyf15.png Getting Airborne since 2009

August 1, 201014 yr Games are just getting worse and worse, just like movies. Without modders I wouldn't even bother with games. so true, the corporate monster trudges on, hooray for consumer fools. as long as people keep paying for the filth that gets spoon feed to them then we'll keep getting this mediocre rubbish. i was thinking the other day there should be a tender system produced by a group of gamers that describes what is wanted and a proposed price that would be paid to the developers, just like the construction industry. i.e. we want a game that does this, features co-op, split screen etc, single player must be at least this long, must feature this content.... the group then pools resources and pays for the development of the game. modding with finiancial backing on BF3 not expecting anything great, the game industry has dies aside from neiche games such as PR and arma. the sad reality is that the world is full of cashed up 16year olds who love l33t as spec 0pzors. F yeah.
August 1, 201014 yr and its another console port http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8090/ragetable.gif The internet on consoles is the worst thing that's ever happened to PC gaming. http://www.bigdgaming.net/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=720&dateline=1226123908
August 2, 201014 yr I had hope seeing how this has been in production for so long "supposedly" soooo I died a little inside. This ^ http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k53/Rommel93/avsnsigs/ah1_2avatar1.jpg
August 2, 201014 yr The two games i play on PC are IL2 (2001) and BF2 (2005). If you would have told me 5 years ago i would still be playing these 2 games in 2010 i would have laughed at you. PC gaming sure has gone yuk. But oh well, all things work in cycles, who knows what the future will hold. BoB Storm of War is my big hope.

Il-2 Has had some nice addons in that time, from many expansions and content patches to the modding community creating real nice 3d landscapes instead of flat terrain with 2d trees getting mad for peoples amusement
August 3, 201014 yr Pirating is to blame. While I'll get flamed for that the simple fact is companies view PC gaming as a small market full of people who don't want to pay for their games so why bother. As a result of anyone who like to pirate games we now enjoy console ports. I do have high hopes for BF3 though, BC2 was pretty fun and if we can get some jets and maybe mod tools that would be pretty awesome. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. If someone flames you for stating an obvious fact that needs to be said, they are obviously defensive because 90% of their games are pirated. Console ports, although 90% of them are crap, the occasional one is, to use an old saying, a diamond in the rough. Lets hope BC2 wasn't the diamond... http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/43/gossyf15.png Getting Airborne since 2009
August 4, 201014 yr Ive been relying on BF3 for some time. Hope is however fading.... Personally i 'try before you buy' simply cos 95% of all games are utter feces! I certainly don't earn enough to splash out a near 100 gum nuts for something id give up on 20 mins after playing....... Just simply not worth paying for. Not saying its ok to do, BUT, publishers need to spread the love ALOT more, and stop making games as a tool for some quick bucks regardless of substance and quality.... As for console ports? I don't believe the majority is from piracy. The console market is full of a special bunch of people who seem to pay for anything. Companies don't really need to spend the mass amounts of time, and more importantly money in testing and compatibility. Also the actual game assets are far fewer. Far more effort goes into PC gaming cos there sooo much more capable. Consoles need many many tricks to give an illusion of greatness. ~ Bad Company 2 is a fair effort, though it is lacking... BF3 to me, should just be BF2 with an massive visual upgrade. And most importantly Mod support. I do however have a jaded view, as I cant play nearly all single player games, just not engaging enough....! fuel to the fire....? Edited August 4, 201014 yr by duanegordon78 :(When swimming in sh!t, best keep your chin up! http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii300/3D_Gimp/bDSig2014_zpsbfe88bfb.png
August 4, 201014 yr If someone flames you for stating an obvious fact that needs to be said, they are obviously defensive because 90% of their games are pirated. Not flaming, but disagreeing, thats the reason the publishers will give (same as movie studios, music studios, pretty much anyone who over charges for their products). I'd say decline in sales would be more to do with buggy releases, lack luster gameplay, lack of imagination in most games (you will get the occasional gem tho), DRM which cripples the games and the lack of game studios themselves (you know that gem, more competition keeps em on their toes, the less there are the less they have to work for it). i'd buy more games if they were cheaper, but as they aren't i just dont purchase them. i refuse to torrent a copy of new game because i cant afford it, i instead go without and i know a lot of people who are in the same boat as me. Publishers would prefer to say their decline in sales is due to pirating rather than their pricing though, i mean why sell 3 million copies of a game for $49 each when you can sell 1 million for $110 right? $110 looks more impressive than $49 when you launch a game so who needs that extra $37mil you'd generate? Sales people i know (various industries) will always tell you its volume that makes you money, not high prices (my boss could do with learning that lesson). ps. only games i have that would be considered pirated are Freelancer and Homeworld Catalyst. If i could find a place to purchase both from i would be happy to do so, all my other games (around 100+ titles but cant be shagged counting to prove that those two games are the '90%' you refer to) are 100% legit copies. There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
