Well over a month ago my 8800gt decided to die!! apon start up the whole screen would go into a frozen pixelated rainbow, i have been using my old 6600gt as a temp till i buy a new card anyways jump forward to today and i am now using my once dead 8800.

 

my mate also had a 8800 that died around the same time we are both using them again :D thanks to this trick

Can extend the lifespan but your problem will most likely manifest once again in a few months time.

my 8800GS died some two years ago i remember the exact moment it died on me , i was playing GTA SA and the game suddenly started to crash in a funny way , very hard to describe visually , it went grey and then BLUESCREEN!.

 

after that i had to stick with ATi 9500GT.

 

Last year i got my ATi Raedon 4890 , been pretty good so far. Haven't looked back since

I did this to a GeForce 7600 when the trick was first "discovered" (have used a reflow oven before but never connected 2-and-2 together). Still works great (though I don't use it).
Heh.. Would expect anyone with an older XBox 360 woudl know all about this. My son seems to do this pretty regularly to fix RROD, etc. Go a couple of friends consoles he fixes like this. Of course the issues with those was also issues with stable board and good contact with heatsink. Seems to fix it for a while, but generally comes back after a while.

haha well its the 5th month since my 8800 got baked and it died again the other day baked it again and shes apples.. im hanging round for another solid card like the 8800 to come out befor i buy a new one .. soo ill keep baking haha
