I've been practising on new Co-op servers and have to say it completely sucks and takes away everything that seperates BF2 (Vanilla) to Project Reality. From the helicopter/jet training that simulated the real 'deployment' to learning how to place FOB's and so forth, the new co-op seems to be about tking the guy next to you to get the A10 for F16, the controls and weapons are crap (F16 bot version doesn't even need a warm up or a runway!)

I'm not sure about you guys but I learnt everything I know from the old training!

Which do you prefer?

- The old training

- The new training/Co-op

Old training wins hands down for sure, there have been both types, (pr and vanilla) aircraft in the maps i have played but you dont have a chance against the bots in the bf2 style jets, so it defeats the purpose of training IMO.

Connecting to IP with Password TBA and it's not letting me through. Done something wrong?

old training for me

The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.

Sun Tzu

Depends on what you're training with really that takes preference between the two.

Having targets to shoot at with a grenadier is much better than with the old, as is with target practise and the like.

BUT the old AI is almost too good at shooting damn the old heli or plane, making learning to fly and land for newcommers hard. Especialy when the area around the LZ is hot.

Would it be better to have both as an option?

Time to rise to the occasion

Whats wrong with creating a local co-op server and setting the bot difficulty to 0?

Also kinda teaches you that you shouldn't try to land in a hot LZ when you have bots shooting at you yeah? ;).

It's also on the agenda to make bot vehicles unenterable by humans.

There are training maps made by community mappers with the same style as the old training maps.

Here is one that I have had a play on:

Use the download in the above link (you have to register in their forum).

You can play by yourself, with others via hamachi. I have seen a dedicated server playing this sometimes as well.

Downloaded and installed but everytime I load the map the russians tickets drop to 0 in a couple seconds and the games over :(

I replaced a file in my localization folder... i hope that doesn't change anything =\

The Jets in the hangars have the same properties as the online ones , its the one that start on runway that have crazy handling

As anyone able to send me a copy of prmaps.UTXT located in

I replaced it with one in the above map and its stuffed all the objective names. :(

I sent it to the email address you registered on the forums with.

Weird, when i installed that map it was fine with me.

EDIT: The object names are just like that, the mapper didnt set them up properly, replacing the localization file just makes it so the repawn times work properly with that map.

All fixed, re installed the map.

And I must say that is a awesome training map!:db:

Thanks too Bahlye!

for training, coop kinda sux a bit, but for funzies, coop is good imo

i play it a fair bit...

After that night I started peeing out the window to avoid going down the hallway when it was dark.

Coop's been great for me as I've been trying to get the hang of little birds. I can crash as often as I want trying to land and experiment against different possible combat scenarios. Knowing that there will always be populated servers it's been great as I can count on getting a go of the asset against live targets that shoot back!

Like everything though, it is what you make of it. If you're trying to play COOP like the old training servers, that's on you, not on the mode.

As far as I know though, choppers in single player have different physics to those in MP?

QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan).

QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough

My thoughts as well.

On a separate note, boy do those AI jets dislike being locked on with stinger/sa7.

dont think so...

iirc its just the jets that spawn on the runway on kashan with the different handling

I prefer new training, because although its 'harder' in someways, theres less AA vehicles all over kashan and othermaps that pretty much shoot you down instantly (or easiest dificulty setting)
Where to mate' It's been a while...
I checked the files for kashan coop and there are both normal and sp versions of the choppers, jets and tanks.

O yeah, there is a one-man tank......good times :).

The RT Vehicle Training Map is awesome for training (as the name suggest) awesome terrain and different villages to practise helo landings and boming.. to be honest its better than half the maps that are in the game as is.... its very similar to silent eagle.

YEah i noticed that they are alot slower in CoOp averageing around the 400 mark
