Posted June 16, 201014 yr Since this latest Patch I find that it takes me about 2-3 minutes to load into a game after login. I remember that in the past you had to go into the BF2 folder in my documents & empty out the cache folder, I forget how to do this,...........now is this the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache and if so, do I empty all the contents? Please help http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/50px-US_Army_E-5svg.png http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/goodconduct.gifhttp://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/teamwork1.gifhttp://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/valour-1.gifhttp://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h258/oldozie123/ANZSig.png

June 16, 201014 yr Yes, that's correct. From what I've read, it also doesn't hurt to empty out the LogoCache folder in the "C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\Battlefield2" directory Sauce: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100124055501AANPqvv Go into My Documents (Documents in Vista/7) and open the battlefield 2 folder. Delete the contents of the Logocache folder. Delete all folders in the mods\bf2\cache folder, they will alll have a long name. You should do this every time you change video settings, update drivers or install a patch, there should only ever be one folder in cache after the game has optimized shaders > http://www.bigdgaming.net/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=720&dateline=1226123908
June 16, 201014 yr Clearing Shader Optimizations: When you change the graphical settings or install a new patch, BF2 attempts to optimize the shaders used in the game for the best performance on your particular hardware. These optimized files are stored in your \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\ directory in XP or \[username]\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\ in Vista. If you've changed your settings several times, I recommend you finalize your changes, close BF2, go to the above directory and delete everything under the \cache\ directory. The next time you start the game and play single or multiplayer, your shaders will be optimized again. Close BF2 one more time, defragment your hard drive, and now things should be much smoother and load much faster the next time you go to play BF2. From here http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_3.html The login server delays are caused by server timeouts in your favourites list - for every red favourite you have in there, another approx 5 secs will be added to your login time. Stupid I know, but that is the way it's worked since the 1.3 release. So, either log and and delete those red favourites, or do the manual route below: 1. Navigate to your My Documents folder and then Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 inside that. (Normally 0001, which I believe is the one at the top of the login list - YMMV) 2. Open General.con in notepad (NOT msword, wordpad or some other similar toy) 3. Delete all lines that begin GeneralSettings.addServerHistory and GeneralSettings.addFavouriteServer (you could be selective and keep ones that you know are still pingable). 4. Save, and try again. You may also need to use this manual method to delete Undefined favourites and other similar ones that have become corrupt. June 16, 201014 yr It always takes me that long to load in. It always has. Maybe that's just me. Sometimes it takes longer, it seems. edit - p.s. if you delete the cache it will take *even longer* to load in the first time as the cache must be rebuilt - I don't know that it will help your load times in general - the only time I would delete the cache is if I had corrupted in-game textures Edited June 16, 201014 yr by mandatory05 "When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite." - Winston Churchill
June 16, 201014 yr Deleting your graphics cache will not help your load times. Deleting your favourites, server history and logo cache will help your login time significantly. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man.
