Anybody play a half decent flight sim? (DO NOT SAY MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIM!) There doesn't seem to be any out there these days!

Haven't played it but i know a lot of the guys here rave about IL2. Have seen Heros Over Europe but dont really know what thats like either.

 

You could always have a go at Falcon 4.0 if you can find it, that was pretty hard core

Yeah pretty much only ones ive seen around are IL2,falcon 4.0,lomac and i didonce play a MMO flight sim they had a trial out was warbirds or somthing heaps of fun.. there isnt really any good new flight sims out aye.. will be amazing once one comes out tho.

DCS : Black Shark is one of the best Attack Chopper Simulators out, and rumor is they are working on a Apache Simulator =p

 

Also Lock On / Lock On Flaming Cliffs (Expansion) They Are Also Awesome Combat Simulators.

 

IL2 1946 is a good Simulator love it.

 

Another 1 i play is Rise Of Flight Which is WW1 planes with SWEET graphics, i absolutely LOVE IT.

 

Microsoft Flight Simulator X i also have but i download lots of new aircraft and extras.

 

Another 1 like flight simulator is X-Plane which i haven't played but looking at it, the graphics aren't to flash but the Realism Seems to be a good highlight.

I went in the C-130 (cant remember whether it was H or J) simulator at RAAF richmond cause me and a mate sold a whole bunch of badges for legacy day.

 

That was AWESOME!

so you could get one of them if you have a spare $18m lying around...

I do believe DCS: A10 should be coming out this year.

Flaming Cliffs 2 has just come out though ( Its and expansion for Lock on) And im considering buying it.

Lock on is really good. Has a few bugs here and there but its well worth it!

Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory is good when patched up.

 

IL2 1946 is pretty fun too.

 

MS Combat Flight Sim 2 is pretty fun also. Grumman Wildcats vs. Zeros = good match.

 

As mentioned above "Falcon 4.0" is pretty good - its got like a 400 page manual but its pretty fun shooting stuff 40km's over the horizon with these. Also laser guided bombs are pretty awesome. Its a really good simulation.

 

Also FS:X is pretty good with some add on planes such as the SR-71 Blackbird and Tiger Moth.

 

Yeah... i'm kind of big on flight sims. The one to watch: Storm of War - Battle of Britain

flaming cliffs 2 its compatible with dsc black shark, and will definetly be compatible with new dsc a10, due later this year.

 

can be hard to master but online play is un beatable. have to give it to the russian gaming developers but no one makes combat flight sims like they do.

any BoB II players been online with the new MP section that was added in the last patch?

You can download the x-plane demo. It is rather large in size, as its actually the full game just with 10 min flight restriction and small area of scenery. The cool thing is that you can download any of the free addon planes and even scenery. X-plane can be had pretty cheap online though anyway.

 

There is also a free flightsim called "Flightgear".....a bit buggy and horrible UI, but some good stuff.

 

If your a space geek there is "Orbiter", its free and pretty darn awesome if your into orbital mechanics or want to learn about it. Steep learning curve.

No, those are new shots and there has been fairly regular updates recently. Well not vapourware yet anyway. The games development has generated its fair share of internet rumours though.

Yeah the game is real. For a long time it seemed like a myth, but it appears to be full steam ahead ATM. Fingers crossed for a release this year. When it does, im not gunna see the outside world for a month...

I'm with you Charger, not had a decent flight game in bloody years. I think I'll have to get a new joystick and throttle control for this one.

 

I hope there is some good online play. I love shooting down real people best.
