Posted June 2, 201014 yr Hi This particular plant has been in my family for a good 30 years. It was kept in a small clay pot until last year and never grew much over 50cm (until now). It is extremely hardy and can survive on SFA water and in scorching heat or bitter cold. We always thought it was some sort of African thing but I guess it may be Australian desert plant of some sort ? http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w288/GordonBennet_bucket/001.jpg Can anyone identify it ? I want to get a couple more. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w288/GordonBennet_bucket/002.jpg Photos on my balcony this arvo. June 2, 201014 yr The leaves look like razer grass or Kunai grass, but I've never seen them with a trunk! Are the leaves sharp at all? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
June 2, 201014 yr Author Yeah they are sharp & they will cut you if you aren't careful. Definitely has a trunk - sort of like a tuber of some sort. "When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite." - Winston Churchill

June 2, 201014 yr Author Bingo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaucarnea_recurvata Thanks. All those years in a closed pot must have stunted it. Seems they can grow quite large. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Pataelefante.jpg Native to Mexico. Thanks to all.
