Posted January 15, 201015 yr What is your Favourite layout of Kashan ? 16- I like Running 32- Helicopters 64- Jets Not Bothered as long as there is tanks And why ? http://i.imgur.com/798rp.png http://i46.tinypic.com/v2wmlz.png Close Air Support excellence
January 15, 201015 yr 64 - jets ftw! Nothing like calling a bit of heavy air support and ripping a tank to shreds, or watching 2 jets having a dog fight above the desert... 16 is ok as well but can get pretty annoying with the uber 1337 BDRM's... 32 is just lame.. its been over played. http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
January 15, 201015 yr 64 - Layout is much better. I dont mind the 16p layout either ive had some pretty good matches on it. http://imageshack.com/a/img538/2069/C6k7ld.png
January 15, 201015 yr 16 Definitely is my fave 64 is alright because at least you only have 2 people in the planes. Also, the planes require a LOT more teamwork than the choppers to be effective, because without a laze on the tank, the planes will be putting themselves in bigtime risk trying to hit it with unguided munitions. I think this gives both the players on the ground and those in the sky sort of an equal footing. If the team has squad leaders lasing... they will pzorn, whereas if not, the ground stuff will dominate. I enjoy all roles... I have flown planes, FACd, armoured, and helis. The only annoying one is transport helicopters because they are so vulnerable in that terrain... no cover anywhere really. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 15, 201015 yr Choppers have been over played , we need jets back [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC][WC]Private http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6780/blackmagikzwc.png "A tank is like a fat timid kid at a dance party , always too shay to get into the action and ask a girl to dance with him and always backs down after every approach" -Some Marine Capitan i forgot- Iwo Jima
January 15, 201015 yr Author it goes like this whenever i see jets but plz som1 show me diferent. one of the fighters dominates, then both bombers last 2 minutes then the fighter tries to cas tanks and fails planes get dommed by AA for some reason http://i.imgur.com/798rp.png http://i46.tinypic.com/v2wmlz.png Close Air Support excellence
January 15, 201015 yr I see people in the apaches flying at 100m doing l33t killz0r tankz missions same thing, if you have someone that can use the asset properly, it will stay alive longer
January 15, 201015 yr I had a single A10 up for over an hour, although a lot of that was time spent waiting for CAS missions. As you said it is highly dependent on the team supporting you and a bit of luck depending on if the Mig/F16 is taken down so that the bombers can only worry about ground based AA. Personally I wish there was a layer with just armour and transport trucks... I think it would be the most fun http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 15, 201015 yr I like the Jet layer because I'm less likely to be killed by a jet than a Heli, also the A10 sounds sweet. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h72/mott_photos/bigdcopy.jpg
January 15, 201015 yr I hate all versions of Kashan except for 16 inf. When I cracked that joke about "Kashan Desert: The walking simulator" last night, I was being half serious. Unless your rocking it in a tank or a jet, it's not fun. At all. Combined Arms is fun when it's combined, not Infantry hurry up and wait here, while Tanks have a nailbiting standoff in the hills on opposite sides of the maps and A10s rape you when you start walking. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/valour.gifhttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5224/operationcrownribbon02py7.jpg yeaaa booooy.
January 15, 201015 yr jetstickles are my favourite. Nothing like seeing a 1000lb freefall take out south village. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
January 15, 201015 yr I've kept the frog/a10 up for entire rounds because I had awesome people lasing/spotting for me. On the flip side I've had it up for less than ten minutes because there was noone doing anything. Same story with the apaches really
January 15, 201015 yr Author both are devestating as long as the crew and spotter have some idea http://i.imgur.com/798rp.png http://i46.tinypic.com/v2wmlz.png Close Air Support excellence
January 15, 201015 yr 64p, been choppers for ages. If your walking on Kashan then your transport pilots fail. Get someone else to do it who knows what their doing and problem solved. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/US_Army_E-2.svg/50px-US_Army_E-2.svg.png http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4927/awardslf0.png

Combined Arms is fun when it's combined, not Infantry hurry up and wait here, while Tanks have a nailbiting standoff in the hills on opposite sides of the maps and A10s rape you when you start walking. how can you fail as infantry on Kashan? squads in Bunkers do really well, I've never had to walk more than the length of bunkers to get to my squad, even then there will be a flying cow itching to pick you up and jam crates down your throat. you might have just been having a bad day if your team was off in b2c2 in armor waiting for enemies instead of sitting around bunkers. the team that has their armor IN bunkers and around it will always win. playing infantry on 32/64 is more enjoyable than 16p I always found, as the BRDMs just rape face, and the Hummers, due to their cannon. if it was strykers /w Mk19s and BTR-60/80's well that would be ok.
January 15, 201015 yr 16 is my favourite, but expecting Kashan to stay on the Infantry layer is bit selfish considering there are so many other infantry-centric maps 64 is far funner than 32 in my opinion, if one had to choose. Much more teamwork required (laz0rs) and the dogfights in the air are more entertaining while you sit AFK for 20 minutes at bunkers than the chopper fights. Good Conduct http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/goodconduct.bmp
January 15, 201015 yr On the 32 p version you constantly need to hide from the attack choppers. On the 64 p version when a jet comes you just duck out of the way for 30 seconds at the most and they normally don't come back for a while, so its a bit more fair to the inf lovers. http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
January 15, 201015 yr I think the map is completely wrong, so I didn't vote. Infantry and armour should be able to battle on their own. N and S bunkers needs to be higher than the surrounding hills so that no vehicles can enter the complex or shoot into it. Both villages need to be built up more and outposts need a lot more work building them up with more buildings and defensive bunkers. IMO planes shouldn't be in the game at all and should be only in the game as a commander asset to call in bombing runs from laser guided infantry in the field, not piloted...perhaps drones...but i still don't think someone should be able to control their movements, just designate a target. January 15, 201015 yr Fall . . . :pcpunch: But seriously, I agree more or less with Gekko, the villages need more buildings and the bunkers and outposts need more work. Basically Kashan is getting to old, it needs to be freshened up, maybe some fields near the villages, more cover, I dont know anything, it just way to bare to infantry action atm. http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/Chanvlan/new_kit.jpg yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't. Its exactly like knowing about the stuff you dont know about, that way you know theres stuff you dont know so when you know what you dont know you can say "ah i knew that!"[/quote']

January 15, 201015 yr The layout of Kashan is inherently bad for assets in general. The terrain offers terrible cover for any type of asset but especially air. Hopefully we will see some changes to it in 0.9, but I have to agree with everyone that 64p layer is the most enjoyable. I think jets are more reliable that attack choppers on that map. Personally, I wouldn't mind Kashan being removed. It is old, overplayed but remains popular because it the only map of it's type at the moment (Quinling is even more bland than Kashan despite the trees). I bet when we start playing maps like Silent Eagle etc. people will start to see it's flaws.. A good map allows infantry, armor and air to all have a decent chance in combat, and ultimately their combined use leads to victory. Neither Kashan nor Quinling give infantry any sort of cover to fight with on the flags so they become repetitive for anybody not in armor/jets etc. Edited January 15, 201015 yr by YAK [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
January 15, 201015 yr there isn't supposed to be cover, its a desert map made for large armour columns and battles, the mountain range is only really there to divide the map... the only changes that need to take place are the modification of the areas that are built up, and with the new thread on the realitymod forums, the removal of the main base flags. edit, now that I think of it to avoid what IHP said was happening with the armor battles way off the flags, they should be either cropped off the map or made out of bounds, to funnel the battle literally into the bunker areas. http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/3475/kashed.png not 100% just an idea. January 15, 201015 yr Author jets take to long , they do about 5 cas runs then they have 2 rearm the flares landing takes about 5 mins choppers can be back and forth non-stop, dropping 7 hellfires http://i.imgur.com/798rp.png http://i46.tinypic.com/v2wmlz.png Close Air Support excellence
