I'm in the same boat as you Madhouse I was looking at a Benq G2420 which is around $250 but not sure most people say to avoid them because of the warranty. I don't really know much about monitors which is where my problem lies.

On WP the suggestions are:

- BenQ if you don't mind taking a risk with their relatively cruddy warranty and lack of DP policy after the first 2 weeks

- LG/Samsung if you want a nice monitor with lots of warranty perks

- ASUS is ok

That's all I can think of for now...

This one is highly recommended on WP, although I have no idea about it

was it the benq that's the one I'm looking at but I'm getting mixed reports on it :(

I know you don't have the cash, but cheap LCD's aren't renowned for the colour reproduction (CRT's are better than LCD TN panels). I thought you were into your graphics...?

You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.

I suppose it's a case of if he cares for pixels per dollar or if green is vibrant green. The IPS panels I've looked at tend to have a fair amount of input lag etc, but apparently (been a while since I read up) less bleeding?

viewsonic,

havent had a problem in 4 months that ive had it, best mate has one too had it for about 18 months hasn't had a problem

Isn't it 1680x900?

1920 by 1080 = 16:9, 1680by 1050 = 16:10... so no.

Yes but the pixels are scaled differently on the 16:9 bezel size [22"] monitors, so they still show as 1680x1050 afaik.

input lag, yes. my 8 bit dell is 6ms. never noticed any problems. bleeding is also monitor design, so you can't rule that with an ips vs a tn. tn have poorer viewing angles.

just saying, if accurate colour reproduction is important to him, then it's got to sway his purchase. personally, and with the amount of photo work i do, i wouldn't buy a cheapie.

photographers, graphic designers, photoshop gurus - those type of people.

It's like the 'gaming' type of panel, fast response rate but imagine like duller colours. They're also generally quite a bit cheaper than IPS panels. As SOP said, if you're doing photographic, web development or pretty much anything that the colour reproduction could be really critical, TN panels are considered inferior. That's not to say they're terrible, but yeah you don't get nearly the accuracy and vibrancy of an IPS panel.

SOP, do you know much about OLED screens? MSY sell the BenQ OLED 26" I think? But that's closer to $400

Got an AOC 24", which has worked well - cost me about $00 but that was over a year back - was one of the cheaper ones back then.
