December 9, 200915 yr Get a working holiday visa get a job and stay longer. The British Pound is so much stronger than the Aussie dollar it almost makes it a waste of time to even bother saving too much over here. Even a crap live in job will get you more savings while having fun than you can pull in over here unless you have a top job that is. I spent 2 years in the UK then got a working holiday visa to The Netherlands and spent just over a year in Amsterdam and it was badass. One of the nice things about living and working in Europe is that it is a growing experience and will help you achieve goals later in life. It's not easy but if you can pull it off in a country where you don't even know the language you can do just about anything after that. If you are after a short and sweet think about a Contiki, lots of fun and you can score easy. I strongly recommend living over there though. You don't get to experience much just passing through nor do you get the chance to form real friendships past a good piss up. Lastly, STAY AWAY FROM AUSTRALIANS!!!!!! So many of you guys head over there and do Australian stuff with Australian people which makes it pointless to even bother heading over. Hell it's so bad that you have this pub called The Walkabout all over the UK which is rammed full of Australians drinking Aussie beer and nailing Aussie birds.... Seriously, wtf.... December 9, 200915 yr Avoid the tourist places - they are all the same, in many respects, no matter where you go. Go your own way. Follow the road less travelled, it is better and more rewarding. IMVHO "When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite." - Winston Churchill
December 9, 200915 yr ohohohohohohohohohohoh Go to Bulgaria, no one goes there the beer is 20 cents and the ladies are all hot and they love you the dudes are ugly as hell. If you go there you will love it, it is a bit run down though being an ex Soviet state and all but the Soviet monuments are a head trip. Go to Amsterdam, it's awesome. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 9, 200915 yr I'm gonna go see the world next year, Anyone have any tips/advice/places to see? MMM where do i start...where are u starting and what are u into? ive been sorta planning a Euro trip for a while and have a lot of nice places listed to see. The must dos are Paris and Amsterdam (been there), in Europe you can get a train or ferry pretty much anywhere and with googles help planning a trip yourself is pretty easy, especially if your a little flexible. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp

December 9, 200915 yr Author I plan to backpack around, just go to countries, meet people and try different things. I'm gonna head over to Aus and live with my uncle and his family for a few weeks, He's gonna teach me to wait tables due to the decent tip money you can make if you entertain people and the ease of getting jobs doing that. Then I'll head to London and go stay in a backpackers and meet other world travelers, go meet some new friends and see the world with them. Then i'll just see where I end up after that. So yeah, places to go, places to avoid. Things to bring, things to look out for. I figure out of all the friends I have on this bloody forum some of you must have gone traveling. Or wouldn't mind putting me up for a day as I pass through http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/US_Army_E-2.svg/50px-US_Army_E-2.svg.png http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4927/awardslf0.png
December 9, 200915 yr I plan to backpack around, just go to countries, meet people and try different things. Then I'll head to London and go stay in a backpackers... Do whatever. No advice is gonna bend a trip. You do what you wanna do, its the whole point. People are gonna say london's to expensive blah blah, eastern europe cheap blah blah, go to india, nepal blah blah. Its not about money anyway (unless you run out). People gonna advise you to do allota things, see allotta things. but its your trip you do what you want when you want. thats the beutry of backpacking, you can buy a ticket, hitch or whatever and be movin on...wherever too. who the f... cares where you go. pick any reason to go somewhere and go... and bam, too easy. depends who you are too. like, some backpackers out there wont think twice about hangin out in the slums in Nairobi for a while alone whislt others like hangin with people who they feel level with, and plus everything in between. I could list a dozen places ive backpacked through and liked. But i liked em for my reasons cos i was alone doin it for my own thing. so to you I could say go to uh, paris barcelona, london. but i personally found (at least on a superficial level by backpacking), smaller places force you into a town or city. in a big city you can find your crew and hang with them see museums and whatever, but never really know the place. whereas i learnt the most from the sh*tty dinky places no-one knows... the train stations your left hangin at not knowing where the f** you are, the crap town you get to not knowing which way is east, west, south or north...the food you order not really knowing what it is... most people in this world dont get to travel at all (fact). so its a liberty, not a right that we are able to. any trips a trip, AND i reckon a good trip is the one you take not someone elses. December 9, 200915 yr Lastly, STAY AWAY FROM AUSTRALIANS!!!!!! australia has a particular brand of traveller. its unique. but ive met some cronic canadians too. but then its levelled if your not canadian, cos your not sure whether its a cultural thing or theyre just wankers. whereas you know when an aussie is a wanker cos you know the culture. but then crazy people can get you places if your not crazy yourself. so dont right off wankers they can be useful http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/spambot.bmp http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/whatthe.bmp The Bee Zed Zed

December 10, 200915 yr australia has a particular brand of traveller. its unique. but ive met some cronic canadians too. I meant how many Australians go over hang out with only Australians live in Shepherds Bush for two years then go home having met two English people their whole trip. I met some douche Canadians when I was in London, damn I was embarrassed...... Their ought to be a douchbag test everyone has before getting a passport where they call all your ex's and teachers, bosses and the like to see if you fall into that category so we can keep them hidden away from international scrutiny. Like Yanks for example, they don't get working holiday visa's like we have the opportunity to get resulting in a piss poor impression because you just met a cashed up selfish snob with no manners.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 10, 200915 yr Good old Korean School Exchange in Year 10 was loads of fun, plus all the young girls followed me and cameron around and wrote their phone numbers on our arms, was good times don't get yourself stuck into a set plan slavak, you don't want to book anything for any amount of time as you will go there and find there is nothing you like 10 pairs of clothes should be enough, you will pick up gear as you go along, it's up to you whether you want to be a true blue and go around with the hiking pack on oh, always always always keep your passport on your person especially if you are going to stay in hostels Edited December 10, 200915 yr by Gunner_downer
December 10, 200915 yr Boots good ones and there is no such thing as too expensive socks. Visas get them before you get on a train or plane. preferably before you leave NZ or Aus. Backpack make sure its handles n stuff zip up like a suitcase as a lot of airlines wont carry hiking packs. 1 Good fluffy warm jacket thing 2 cargo pants , light sneakers (kt26/volleys) 4 teeshirts/shirts. A super light sleeping bag (always) Otherstuff you can get on the way. Make sure you have at least 2 or more keycards to different bank accounts and keep them seperate 1 in pack 1 in wallet. Check they will work on miestro atm system. visa card if you can as well. link multiple accounts to each card if you can. some USD some euro some stirling as cash. If you didnt see the bottle opened then assume its spiked. :hi:

December 10, 200915 yr Oh and everyone outside of the UK is trying to rip you off, well not everyone but just about. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 10, 200915 yr tryna distill my tips for backpack travel. coupla pants, coupla shirts, a jumper and a good jacket plus undergarments and that ought be fine. you realise what is unecessary after a month. travelling in europe and UK is easy as piss. the internet, integrated rail, cheap national air fares. things that you might have to plan for is national/domestic air fares, cos the sooner you book the cheaper it is. I remember booking a flight from luebeck to stanstead and it cost me a token 1 euro (plus tax you gotta pay irrespective of the ticket price). But this was only cos i booked about 6 weeks out...the fares go up closer to departure, so its less easy to be spontaneous with air fares if you want to be cheap... I didnt buy eurail. i did lots of cheaper domestic rail and hitchhiking over borders and stuff. Plus i didnt buy eurail cos when i got to europe i didnt want a ticket to dictate where i went. But im not saying its a bad idea, just i had my reasons for not getting one. I somehow manage to steal aboard bullet trains alot in germany even tho i only had a regional rail ticket...i wouldnt try it too much tho. i got out of fines only cos i was australian...and they like australians in germany...or something like that... PLUS - travelling in advance on ryan air or another domestic carrier is cheaper long distance between countries than rail in alot of cases... but travelling train is way nicer tho. as is hitchiking on autobahns with drink driving germans. not recommended Edited December 10, 200915 yr by Hambang101 http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/spambot.bmp http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/whatthe.bmp The Bee Zed Zed
