Yep this sort of real world stuff is very politicly incorrect and should not be for public consumption....the situation he is referencing is prob 5 or so years old to, so maybe the central character has left the service anyway.

He reckons 3 para stationed in the Now Zad DC had an ANP officer that was selling the Taliban intel and they had to trick him as to when the Chinooks were coming in for resupply. He also says stuff about some of the ANSF doing drugs and selling info.

Well even Vietnam wasn't plagued by traitors playing both sides (at least not anywhere near to the degree of which it happens in the gulf wars). The mountainyard people the US SF trained to fight hated the vietcong. The ARVN, while having some notable double agents, were primarily soldiers loyal the Coalition forces.

 

Both Iraq and A-stan on the other hand have a high amount of native soldiers helping out the insurgency and the taliban under the guise of their respective outfits. German SF lost 2 High Value Targets because of leaks in the ANA.

dont be so bloody small minded mate, you put yourself in that guys boots, his men dieing uneededly becuase the Iraqi police cant do their job properly (in this case) i bet youd be pretty freaking pissed if some of your mates just got killed out of some1 elses stupidity or cowardness.... you can bet just about any other soldier from any other nation, put in that some position would say very similar things, so just stop the yank bashing mate...

why? why should i be flamed for stating to obvious? NONE of us here (except for those few who have been there done that) can jugde what that guy is doing, NONE (cept those mentioned b4) know what he or the other soldiers are going through over there. and for some1 to say something like shady did is just plain stupid, does he know all the facts? no, has he experienced that b4? hell no, he is just conforming to this f**king stupid ideal of hating americans. and im god damn sick of it,

I would have to agree with Rhodesy here. I agree with the american soldier in every single way. He was sent to the country to protect and train the people in it. He wasn't sent there to let his men die in the place of the Iraqi soldiers that demanded to be trained so that they can protect their country. And no one randomly goes off at people like that, american or not. Americans are brilliant at what they do, and if this guy is going off his head, he has good reason. It's obvious that there is a problem with the local Iraqi troops and he is trying to fix it, he wasn't trained on how to babysit grown men that can't fend for them selfs, he was trained to lead soldiers that do their job and don't pussy out or ask questions. I'm not one to follow Americas examples but this soldier has every right to say and do exactly what he is doing.

Unless a person practices a religion that discourages judgment or have come to some sort of moral standing against it, they're pretty much free to judge whomever they want, whenever they want. If you disagree with that judgment, that's your prerogative but it seems strange that you'd try to impose your ideals upon others, when it's their opinion they're stating - they are just as entitled to be anti American as you are entitled to be anti-anti American. But as you said, common sense is lacking on the internet ^_^
