Not sure where to post this since the announcement is un-postable.

 

The new servers, where are they?

 

I'm capped at the moment so my ping is jumping but I got two in the high 30's/low 40's which has dropped at least 20ms from GSA. Can't surf the gamingau site to find the details too well.

NEW IP DETAILS- The servers will be called "GamingAU-BigD 0.874"

Server #1 = 113.212.97.73:16567

BTW - not sure how this will affect us:

 

Our upstream is putting in place more network equipment at the Equinix Data Centre in Sydney, which is where GamingAU's main network & servers are located.

 

 

 

They've asked for a Network Outage of ~10 mins that will occur between 6am & 8am on this coming Friday morning (Nov 27th).

 

 

 

Their head Network Admin guy will be on-site doing this work, so I'm confident that the outage will not be 'disastrous'..

Thanks, Sydney seems about right. I think Sydney is usually 45ms or me. It's just hard to tell when one result gets me 40 and the next gets me 120.

 

Trying to trawl the gamingau site at 2kb/s was too painful to find anything.

 

What about server hardware? What is it since they appear to be all on the same box (which would be fine since they aren't all populated at the same time either)? Any other games on the same box?

Pretty sure I read somewhere that their not on a permanent box yet.. Ask kinsman, I'm pretty sure that's where i head it.

Did the servers just appear there the moment GamingAU went live?

 

Surely when GamingAU was a twinkle in Richard's eye, and considering it's hosted by his business, GAU knew the servers would be in Sydney?

May I recommend the servers be changed to 32player max, because at about 15pl a side, the game becomes completely unplayable. The server hardware cannot keep up, which is fair since it's is interim hardware, however there's no point ruining the 32 peoples' fun by injecting the 33-64th players, as it is like playing a slideshow that jumps back a few slides randomly.

1+ Psyrus, i killed my self 5 times trying to place a firebase Down just then :/

PITA for sure lol, may just entertain myself with Warfare 2 till this gets fixed ;).

My ping has gone from 70 on GSA down to 40 with the new server, although it jumps around a bit..

You're absolutely right.... I'm embarrassed and ashamed of myself for even bothering to put that thing together... It would have been ever so much more fun not to have done any news post and kept people guessing what was going on :)

    I also noticed we have a singleplayer server running on the same box as the regular one... afaik this is a nono because the bots will eat up considerably more CPU cycles than just a regular server, not to mention the game runs regardless of human players (again, to the extent of my knowledge)

    it just broked again, 53 players and crashed

    yeap. Lag (no ping hikes but) and then a crash out on the beta 0.874C server.

    be aware that we are working on getting the servers onto new hardware which should fix some of the issues people are having.

     

    Unfortunately it will mean new IP addresses but we will announce it as it comes to light.

     

    It might be sooner than you think
