Posted November 24, 200915 yr So only $5million hey? Thats a good price for something that bad ass. November 24, 200915 yr Terrorism just becuase an economic.:err: This is a brilliant plan. The US get the terrorists to spend lots of money putting it in their own pockets then while the terrorists are taking their new toy back to base they follow or just self destruct it. lol but seriously when their looking for potential buyers they might want to avoid the ones who ask if it comes armed "Aerodynamics are for people who cannot build engines"...... November 24, 200915 yr They did say it was completely demilitarised. Another consideration is: You're not allowed to break the sound barrier in Australian airspace http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2561/bigdsig.jpg

November 24, 200915 yr lol buy it and then crash it and then ask for a refrud because it didnt fly the way you wanted it to ... or insure it lol and then cash it
November 24, 200915 yr They did say it was completely demilitarised. That isn't going to stop me doing flybys with my glock out the window.

November 24, 200915 yr That isn't going to stop me doing flybys with my glock out the window. Sorry wolf but this guy has out done you with his flare gun. Not only did he fire it out while doing Mach 1-2 but by firing the flare he saved his ass from been blown off by a perusing missile http://www.agonybooth.com/images/articles/The_Concorde____Airport__79_1979/airport79_26.jpg edit: Also should mention the plane was inverted Edited November 24, 200915 yr by Roy.Mustang

November 24, 200915 yr It would only take 30 minutes to get 12 miles offshore Not sure what the significance of 12 miles offshore is. Airservices Australia controls our Airspace. Have a look at http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aboutus/howatcworks/ourairspace.asp for the boundaries. http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/aboutus/images/australianairspace.jpg Over Australian Land Airspace. out at sea the RAAF can do as they please. The RAAF pretty much own our airspace, so they do what they please, where they please. As you indirectly suggest, they don't usually break the sound barrier over land, but I have heard them do so a few times, mostly during war games. I think the only way you'd get away with breaking the sound barrier is to be flying real low, where radar coverage is limited, or non existent. (Max speed below 10,000ft is 250 kts). Would be a heck of a thrill! http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2561/bigdsig.jpg
November 24, 200915 yr Once you're in the air, I think you're forgetting getting in it in your hanger.

Would be a heck of a thrill! Seen a F/A 18 Hornet Fly reallly low last week, It was insane it pretty much came out of nowhere at the Coffs Harbour Jetty. Not sure if he broke the sound barrier but you could see white clouds around it as it flew past the headland. It sure as hell was an awsome thing to watch and really, really loud. This may be why it passed so low.. http://imageshack.com/a/img538/2069/C6k7ld.png
November 25, 200915 yr is prolly just vapor on the coming off it. if it was in the shape of a cone, then yeah would be sound barrier but you'd also hear a rather loud boom after it went past followed by the jet noise (o; There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. This may be why it passed so low.. One just flew overhead now, water vapour. The F/A 18's have very loud engines compared to the F-111's, which has more of a whine to it. I live right next to a RAAF base btw.
November 25, 200915 yr The run of the mill description of the water vapour phenomena: Condensation is forming in visible clouds because a sudden pressure drop has cooled the air, bringing the air in that region to a temperature/pressure state where the water vapour condenses. The pressure over the wing, in particular is lower than the surrounding air and the molecules are actually further apart, not closer together. No "pushing" is going on. That's what you see the clouds form on the lee side of aircraft protrubences (like the canopy) or other areas where there is some flow separation, and not ahead of them - that's where the real compression of the air (pushing) is going on. All this is possible when the plane is close to the soudbarrier. Doesn't mean it only happens near the sound barrier. You can even see it on civilian aircraft such as a 737 when it is in high lift conditions, thus creating a pressure drop large enough to cool the air enough to condense the water vapour.
