They went with songs to the battle, they were young.Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning,We will remember them.

Call sign: 'GLORIA'

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them. - George Bernard Shaw

Remembrance day isn't just about the diggers - in addition to commemorating the end of hostilies during WW1, it's about paying respect to all of those who made sacrifices during the numerous armed conflicts throughout the modern era.

So thanks to everyone who's sacrificed something during war time over the years - civlians, armed forces personnel, everyone.

Some sobering stats..

Australia with a population of just 5 million people sent 330,000 troops overseas. 60,00 of these were killed. 160,000 were wounded.

Tough fight.

Lest we forget.

Its a shame that alot of schools and businesses, including mine, don't make the effort for a minutes silence.

was in woolies at 11, they did "for the fallen" and every1 just stoped, and bowed their heads...

It's been a while but i think my school did, probably in the form of a service/assembly where it would be included.
I always did in primary school, but I always went to a school on an Army base ... certainly when I went to high school, we didn't.
